This week, DHS waived every one of our nation's most important environmental laws to bulldoze new border barriers and roads through Big Bend National Park. This marks the first time in U.S. history these laws have been waived in a national park. With these laws gutted and a $1.7 billion construction contract already issued, very little stands in the way of DHS contractors plowing into the park, permanently destroying countless archeological sites, blocking off river access and turning this peaceful national park into an industrial construction zone. On 13.06.2025, BGB(Border Guard Bangladesh) threatened and stopped the construction of fencing along the India-Bangladesh international borders of the #Bagda area. BGB threatened workers to shoot if construction works are not stopped. Workers stopped fencing construction.

🇱🇻 Latvia has completed construction of a fence along its border with Russia In total, around 280 kilometers of fencing have been built along the Latvian–Russian border, creating a continuous barrier in areas where this was technically feasible. The project cost approximately €146 million. The border is still being equipped with surveillance cameras and other technical systems, while patrol roads, bridges, and additional engineering infrastructure are under construction. Full completion of the works is planned by the end of 2026. Earlier, Latvia had already completed 145 kilometers of fencing along its border with Belarus.

NEW: Governor Greg Abbott says the construction pause in Big Bend National Park is a “consequence” of his conversation with Secretary Markwayne Mullin over the weekend where he committed to scrapping any barrier construction in the park—There was not going to be a 30 foot wall, but it sounds like they’re also going to do away with the vehicle barriers that were planned for the area. Governor Abbott says they can use technology and other resources to prevent illegal crossings. A lot of the clearing (now paused) is for patrol roads… It will be interesting to see if that scrap that part of the plan as well.
