48 hours after carrying out coordinated raids of drug gangs perpetrating drug deals and related crimes in Gowon estate, the Taskforce, returned to 31 Rd and the adjoining streets of Wole Omo Osho, Bless Jah, Adenle Crescent and Okunola Rd in Mosan-Okunola LCDA in Alimosho LGA in a mop up exercise for the most extensive clean up operation to end the activities of drug peddling and use in the entire area. The operation which commenced at about 1800hrs of Thursday 28th November, 2024, led to the arrest of 43 suspected sellers of illicit substances and criminal elements who have converted the entire area into a safe haven for unlawful drug activities. A significant mix of different illicit drugs, viz a viz substances suspected to be Kanedian Loud Hemp, prescription drugs, Codeine Syrups, several Weighing Scales of illicit substances, Indian Hemp Crushers and knives were recovered from the suspects. Neighbouring shop owners who conspires and conceal the illicit drugs for the peddlers and same recovered in their shops were arrested while those in whose shops nothing incriminating was found were warned to concentrate on what is displayed for sales at their various shops and never to join in such illegal act. Also, all makeshift/ shanties used for the drug activities around the entire area were demolished during the operation and operatives were deployed with blackmaria stationed for sustenance. Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Taskforce have commenced enforcement against banned Okada operation, one-way traffic violations, and removal of shanties erected along Lagos -Calabar coastal highway corridor. Following credible reports that hoodlums had taken over the Orile Under Bridge and were extorting money from cart pushers who dump refuse illegally in the area, the Environmental Task Force carried out a raid at about 2:45pm today. During the operation, 26 suspects were arrested. Some of them admitted to collecting money from cart pushers in exchange for allowing indiscriminate dumping of waste. They have been taken into custody for further investigation and necessary action in line with the law. In a separate operation earlier today at about 8:00am, Agency operatives continued the ongoing clean-up exercise along the Coastal Road. Hoodlums had converted the road setback into makeshift dwellings, erecting several wooden sheds and occupying the corridor unlawfully. The illegal structures were dismantled, and items stored along the roadside were removed. We will not allow public infrastructure to be hijacked for illegal activities. Enforcement will remain consistent and sustained across the State. #ZeroToleranceLagos

LAGOS POLICE INTERCEPT TRUCKLOAD OF MILITARY UNIFORM, ILLICIT DRUGS The Lagos State Police Command says it has intercepted 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of suspected illicit drugs in an intelligence-led operation in the Surulere area of the state. The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Fatai Tijani, who addressed journalists in Ikeja on Tuesday, said three suspects have been arrested in connection with the recovery. He said the suspects, identified as Chinedu David, 29; Ezeagwu Chukwuma, 38; and Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi, 45, were arrested by operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit on Saturday night. He added that the suspects were apprehended with an unregistered truck loaded with military camouflage uniforms and cartons of substances suspected to be illicit drugs allegedly heading to the Southeeastern part of the country.
