Following credible reports that hoodlums had taken over the Orile Under Bridge and were extorting money from cart pushers who dump refuse illegally in the area, the Environmental Task Force carried out a raid at about 2:45pm today. During the operation, 26 suspects were arrested. Some of them admitted to collecting money from cart pushers in exchange for allowing indiscriminate dumping of waste. They have been taken into custody for further investigation and necessary action in line with the law. In a separate operation earlier today at about 8:00am, Agency operatives continued the ongoing clean-up exercise along the Coastal Road. Hoodlums had converted the road setback into makeshift dwellings, erecting several wooden sheds and occupying the corridor unlawfully. The illegal structures were dismantled, and items stored along the roadside were removed. We will not allow public infrastructure to be hijacked for illegal activities. Enforcement will remain consistent and sustained across the State. #ZeroToleranceLagos

As part of the ongoing clean-up and enforcement operations along Coastal Road, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce carried out a late-night raid at about 10pm yesterday, targeting identified black spots in the area. During the operation, 75 suspects were arrested, comprising 68 males and 7 females. Substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered at the scene. In the course of the exercise, one of our officers, Inspector Omosanjo Mohamed, was violently attacked by hoodlums and sustained a serious head injury. He is currently receiving medical treatment. Let me state clearly: attacks on law enforcement officers carrying out lawful duties will not be tolerated. All suspects arrested during the raid will face the full weight of the law. We remain resolute in restoring order, protecting public spaces, and ensuring that Coastal Road and other parts of Lagos are safe and secure for all law-abiding residents. #ZeroToleranceLagos

The Lagos State Government remains committed to restoring order and ensuring that public spaces are used responsibly and safely. I have been briefed on the latest enforcement carried out by KAI operatives around Ketu, Mile 12, Ikosi Road, and the 7UP corridor. The operation, which resulted in the arrest of twenty individuals engaging in street begging and related activities, is part of our ongoing mop-up exercise designed to curb environmental infractions, safeguard the public, and prevent activities that threaten safety, traffic flow, and sanitation. Those apprehended have been transferred to the appropriate authorities for profiling and further necessary action. We will continue to enforce environmental laws across the State, and I urge members of the public to support this effort by reporting locations where such activities persist. Our goal is to keep Lagos clean, orderly, and safe for everyone. #ZeroToleranceLagos
