They had come to ask the state's top law enforcement officer to get investigators off their backs. 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝟓𝟒-𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝. The fraud Ellison was asked to protect ran to $250 million — stolen from a federal child nutrition program designed to feed low-income kids during COVID. 𝐀𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐜𝐤, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝, 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟒𝟏 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧. Sixty-nine others were charged. Minnesota's total pandemic fraud exposure: $9 billion. The tape was obtained by the Center of the American Experiment and played at two congressional hearings. In February 2026, Sen.
