🌧️The Mumbai Metropolitan City (Mumbai City & Suburbs) has experienced extremely heavy rainfall over the past two days. In certain locations, an unprecedented volume of rainfall exceeding 350 millimetres was recorded within a short duration. ☔️In light of the prevailing weather conditions, all departments of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were actively and continuously engaged in on-ground operations. Officers, engineers, pump operators, health workers, other staff and emergency response teams remained deployed on-field with utmost dedication and promptness. 🔹Special attention was given to critical work such as the storm water drainage system, sewerage network and pumping stations. Immediate and necessary measures were undertaken to ensure that the drainage of rainwater remained unhindered and that public inconvenience was minimised. 🌧️Due to the exceptional nature of the rainfall, citizens did face inconvenience at a few locations. However, Mumbaikars showed commendable civic discipline, understanding and extended their full cooperation by responding positively to the advisories issued by the administration from time to time. 🙏The BMC expresses sincere gratitude to the citizens of Mumbai for their support and cooperation. #mybmcupdates #MumbaiRains CMO Maharashtra Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Ajit Pawar Adv. Empowering Citizens: Celebrating 10 Years of Maharashtra's Right to Public Services Act Addressed a program marking the decade of the implementation of the 'Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act, 2015' and the first 'Right to Services Day'. When the system fails to honour the rights of citizens, it's essential that these rights are safeguarded through legislation, empowering citizens to seek redressal. As CM in previous tenure, one of my first decisions was to introduce the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act during the first cabinet meeting. Today, over 1000 services have been notified under this Act, with 550 to 600 services already available online. We aim to bring another 300 services online soon, and 125 services are currently online but not yet accessible through the common portal. A deadline of August 15, 2025 has been set for full integration. A fine of ₹1,000 will be imposed on the concerned officer for each service per day beyond the defined delivery time. We are also upgrading our Government Portal to provide easier access to services. The vision behind this law is simple: ensuring that every citizen who seeks justice can get it where they need it. If justice is denied, we’ve built a system of appeal and penalty to ensure accountability. We’ve also signed MoU with Meta to bring governance to WhatsApp, simplifying access and improving the ease of living for the common man. To spread awareness and ensure the Right to Services is deeply ingrained in our society, we must incorporate it into school curriculum. Just like how Right to Information Act has empowered citizens, we strive to ensure that the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act similarly empowers them. The star power of Shankar Mahadevan and Sonali Kulkarni, the brand ambassadors, will help us reach every corner of the State, making governance more people-centric, transparent, and dynamic. DCM Eknath Shinde ji, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha ji, Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, and other dignitaries were present. Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Mangal Prabhat Lodha Adv. Maharashtra Leads The Creative WAVE! Presided over the signing and exchange of a MoU between the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune and the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited (MFSCDC), Mumbai today. This was more than a formal agreement. It was a step taken with the belief and purpose to shape the skilled creative force that Maharashtra and the country need in today’s dynamic landscape. Creativity is no longer limited to studios or stages. It thrives in homes, on streets, and in the hands of young dreamers who turn simple tools into powerful means of expression. These voices are not only inspiring, they are driving an entire economy. In just 100 days, the Creator Economy grew from ₹92,000 crore to ₹1 lakh crore. Such momentum brings opportunity, but also a growing need for structure, training and recognition. Many talented individuals have the skill but lack formal certification. Through this collaboration, the aim is to bridge the gap and ensure access to both training and certification. FTII has long stood for artistic excellence. Maharashtra’s Film City is a cornerstone of professional cinema. When these two strong creative ecosystems come together, a new and more empowered ecosystem will begin to take shape. With every step, Maharashtra moves closer to becoming the heart of India’s creative future powered by skill, driven by ambition, and shaped by endless possibilities. Minister Adv Ashish Shelar, FTII President and actor R. Madhavan and other dignitaries were present. Adv. Redefining Connectivity: Mumbai’s Journey Towards Integrated Mobility Delighted to inaugurate, flag off, and unveil the stone plaque of 'Metro Line 9: Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon (Phase-1)', ‘Metro Line 2(B) Deshbhakt N. G. Acharya Udyan - Diamond Garden to Maharashtra Nagar, Mandale (Phase-1), and e-Bhoomipujan of the Automated Rapid Transit System (Pod Taxi) Project for Bandra-Kurla Complex, and the launch of 'Tunnel Boring Machine - Nayak' for the 'Thane-Borivali Underground Tunnel Project' in Mumbai, marking a significant step towards seamless connectivity and transformative urban mobility. Metro services have commenced today on the 4.7 km corridor from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, with four stations along the route, enhancing connectivity and making travel between Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar faster and more convenient. This project, with an investment of approximately ₹6607 crore, will reduce the current travel time from 1-2 hours to nearly 30 minutes. In the upcoming phases, this corridor will be integrated with Metro Line 3, enabling seamless travel from Mira-Bhayandar to Colaba. With over 100 kilometres of metro lines now operational, Mumbai has emerged as the second-largest metro network in the country after Delhi. In the coming years, the network will expand further with the completion of several ongoing projects, strengthening connectivity across the city. The first phase of Metro Line 2B, spanning 5.6 km with five stations, is now operational from today. Once the rest of the phases are fully completed, this transformative project will seamlessly connect the East-West and North-South corridors, enabling smoother and more efficient travel across the city. Notably, this will be the first metro line to connect with the Harbour Line, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai’s integrated urban transport network. The e-Bhoomipujan of the innovative ‘Pod Taxi’ project was undertaken in the BKC area, marking a significant step towards strengthening last-mile connectivity. This automated system will enable commuters to reach within 100–150 metres of their destinations, enhancing convenience and efficiency. The Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project is a landmark initiative that will significantly decongest Mumbai and Thane cities. Spanning 11.84 km, including a 10.25 km twin tunnel stretch, this transformative corridor is designed for efficiency and safety, featuring two traffic lanes and one emergency lane in each tunnel. The tunnels are being constructed in a safe, efficient, and eco-friendly manner, keeping in mind the ecological sensitivity of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Jai Sahakar! Celebrating the Pillars of Maharashtra's Cooperative Movement Distributed the 'Sahakar Gaurav Awards' organised by Maharashtra Rajya Sahakari Sangh and Sahakari Maharashtra on the occasion of the International Day of Cooperatives. On this occasion, presented awards to those who have demonstrated commendable excellence and dedication in the cooperative sector. The cooperative sector has a rich legacy dating back to the British era, when it first emerged to protect farmers from the exploitation of moneylenders. Today, Maharashtra has the largest penetration of the cooperative sector, with over 2 lakh cooperative institutions actively driving growth. In this journey, the Maharashtra Rajya Sahakari Sangh has played an invaluable role in strengthening the grassroots foundation. The cooperative housing movement in Maharashtra is flourishing rapidly, directly fulfilling the housing dreams of millions, while banking cooperatives are ensuring that even the last person in society has access to credit. Recognising its transformative power, Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji established a dedicated Ministry of Cooperation on 6 July 2021, appointing Hon Union Home Minister Amitbhai Shah as the nation’s first Cooperation Minister. From Coastline to Connectivity, Shaping Mumbai’s Landscape Inspected the ongoing work of the 'Mumbai Coastal Road Project North' today, reshaping a faster, greener and better-connected city. Designed to provide seamless connectivity from Nariman Point and Marine Drive to the western suburbs, Bhayandar, Thane, and beyond, this landmark project aims to reduce traffic congestion, travel time, and pollution. This corridor will also be extended up to Virar and the Vadhavan Port, Palghar in the future. Travel time from Versova to Dahisar is expected to reduce from 120–140 minutes to just 15–20 minutes. Additionally, an elevated connector from the coastal road to the upcoming Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) will further strengthen Mumbai's transport network. The Mumbai Coastal Road North (MCRN) Extension from Versova to Bhayandar features innovative engineering elements, including double elevated roads, roads on stilts in mangrove areas, 2 cable-stayed bridges, 4 basket-type bridges, twin underground tunnels, and 10 interchanges. Spread across seven packages A, B, C, D, E, F, and DBLR, the project covers 26.32 km of main road and 32.94 km of interchanges, connectors, and ramps. The project is expected to create employment opportunities, lower vehicle operating costs, and support regional growth, with an Economic Rate of Return (ERR) of 11%. Sustainability is central to the project, with a strong focus on carbon neutrality, while the CM War Room closely monitors progress to keep the project on schedule. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 48%, contributing significantly to a cleaner urban environment. Mangrove conservation remains a priority, with the Maharashtra Government actively expanding and protecting mangrove cover through plantations and dedicated parks.
