This big bull was owning the Ithumba mud bath! Not so long ago, this sight was unthinkable. When we established our Ithumba Reintegration Unit in 2004, it was rare to see a single wild elephant. The northern sector of Tsavo had been scarred by decades of poaching and limited water resources, and as a result, wild elephants gave it a wide berth. Over the years, working in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service, we helped secure Ithumba and nurtured it into a safe, sustainable habitat. Slowly but surely, the elephants returned. It started with a single bull ‘rafiki’ – and before long, the northern sector of the park transformed into a hub for elephants. Kids don’t understand the risk , they just see their favorite device. It only takes one second for curiosity to become danger. If you can’t supervise it, stop it. No video, no game, no scroll is worth a child’s safety. Charge the phone away from them. Teach them the rule early. Tag a parent who needs to see this.

Why does my cat stalk towards me as though I am prey? I only caught the tail end of this occurrence in the video, but about once a week I notice my cat (5 months) stalking towards me like this (she typically starts from much farther away and goes even slower). The weirdest part to me is that she only really does it towards me, not my husband. I’ve also seen her stalk prey before and she doesn’t usually continuously move in slow motion like this, she typically walks forward, pauses and assesses for a while, and then goes for the kill. Usually when she does this to me, she ends up snapping out of it due to movement or sound elsewhere, so she’s never pounced or anything - at most she jumps up next to me and then goes back to normal. I’m a new cat owner so this may be typical behavior, but it is so bizarre to me that this behavior seems reserved for me alone - not my husband, not our dog who she loves wrestling with (thanks reddit for clearing that up), and not the bugs she preys on. I was laughing in this video because she was cracking me up, but sometimes it genuinely freaks me out a bit, I feel like prey and I don’t like it 😶 I would love to hear any thoughts on the matter, if nothing else just enjoy this clip of my cat being an apex predator lol

These dogs are a living, breathing testament to the impact of our field conservation work. 20 years ago, when we started working in the Northern Area of Tsavo East National Park, it was rare to see a single African wild dog. They are vulnerable to snares, human-wildlife conflict, and disease, and illegal activities in the area had taken their toll on the species. In partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service, we started extensive anti-poaching work in the Northern Area, installing teams in the landscape and conducting regular ground and aerial patrols. By removing snares and reducing threats across the ecosystem, we helped create an environment where the dogs could rebound. Two decades later, the Northern Area is home to several healthy African wild dog packs. This one has about 16 members, and another nearby pack numbers around 40. To go from barely a single sighting to packs numbering in the dozens is a wonderful testament to how our anti-poaching efforts are paying off. In partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service, we started extensive anti-poaching work in the Northern Area, installing teams in the landscape and conducting regular ground and aerial patrols. By removing snares and reducing threats across the ecosystem, we helped create an environment where the dogs could rebound. Two decades later, the Northern Area is home to several healthy African wild dog packs. This one has about 16 members, and another nearby pack numbers around 40. To go from barely a single sighting to packs numbering in the dozens is a wonderful testament to how our anti-poaching efforts are paying off. In 1931, psychologists Winthrop and Luella Kellogg performed a cross-rearing study by bringing an infant chimpanzee into their home to raise alongside their infant son, Donald. The goal was to see if the chimpanzee would grow smarter by being raised alongside a human baby. They were looking for increases in human-like language and behaviors. What happened was the opposite. Donald began to mimic the chimpanzee's behaviors. He would grunt, bark, and try to walk on all fours. The parents ended the study after Donald’s language development came to a halt. It turns out, stupid is contagious. If you wear a white glove and dip your hand into a puddle of mud, the glove gets muddy. The mud doesn’t get glovey. Do you understand?

A report by Major General Yevhenii Khmara on our long-range sanctions – a new stage in the use of Ukrainian weapons to limit the potential of Russia’s war. I am grateful to the guys from the Security Service of Ukraine for their precision. The straight-line distance is over 1,500 kilometers. We will continue to extend these ranges, and these are entirely justified Ukrainian responses to Russian terror. It is important that every strike reduces the capabilities of Russia’s military industry, logistics, and oil exports. The results are obvious to everyone.
