Enough really is enough. Last night Peter Mandelson sensationally resigned from the Labour Party — a party he has been part of for his entire life, with his family deeply involved too. So we must ask the obvious questions: 👉 Why did he resign now? 👉 Why wasn’t he... removed years ago? 👉 And why was he ever handed positions of such power in the first place — including being made Ambassador to the United States? This Labour government has shown time and time again that it is simply not fit for purpose. We’ve seen: •A Deputy Prime Minister “forget” to pay £45,000 to HMRC •A so-called Minister for Corruption now under investigation for corruption •A Business Secretary who appeared to forget he wasn’t actually a qualified train solicitor •A Housing Secretary who evicted her own tenant using laws she herself was trying to change It goes on. And on. And on. These people seem to have forgotten one very important thing: They are public servants. They work for us — the Great British public. In the real world, if someone isn’t doing their job properly, they are shown the door through the proper channels. But in politics? That accountability seems to have vanished — and replacing them feels harder than ever. Gorton & Denton — you have the power to change that. The arrogance of Andy Burnham is absolutely staggering. He isn’t stepping into Makerfield because he suddenly cares about the people there or wants to fight for the area. He’s doing it to further his own political ambitions and position himself for a future run at Prime Minister. Makerfield deserves better than being treated as a stepping stone in somebody else’s career plan. And let’s not forget… Makerfield voted around 65% to leave the European Union. Yet Burnham has already been forced into his first major U-turn after previously backing closer ties with Europe again. Labour simply do not listen. They say one thing to get elected and another once they think they’re safe. This by-election is historic and people have a real chance to send a message loud and clear to Westminster. If you live in Makerfield, or know anybody who does, urge them to vote Reform UK. A vote for Labour is a vote for more of the same. 😎 Last week, Zia Yusuf paraded around the beach with his sunglasses on declaring that Reform UK would locate migrant detention camps in areas that didn’t vote for them. They’re just not a serious party. Compare that with The Labour Party and Keir Starmer who are tackling illegal immigration with proper policies that are actually working. It is undemocratic and un-British to punish people simply because they didn’t vote for you.

The deadline for candidates to submit their papers for the May elections is tomorrow at 4pm. After that… expect a lot of noise. You’ll hear plenty said about Reform UK — and plenty said about our candidates too. My advice? Talk to us. Open the door. Ask the questions. Have the conversation. I’ve met so many of the candidates standing across Essex, and this week in London I’ve been meeting even more from across the country — and honestly, you are so lucky to have people like this stepping forward. At Downing Street last night, I was pleased to have the opportunity to say thank you to Keir Starmer and his team for his and their service to our country and The Labour Party. A lot has been achieved in his period in office and he has restored the values of decency and integrity to public life. He leaves Britain in a stronger position than he found it, and Labour as a serious party of government again. I was particularly struck by his determination to do everything he can to constructively support his successor. Country first and with enormous good grace to boot. Thank you.

I did not vote for President Ruto but he is the president! Today in State House he has made me have confidence in his leadership because he spoke like a change agent and it will not be business as usual in government offices. He has laid a trap for his executive officers more so to those who take government functions as just any other function and they can arrive at any time-Gate D state house is a parking lot as many are busy writing explanation letters on why they are late. This should translate to ward level so that Kenyans feel the presence of government at any time, they are servants and not masters. 🔨

Tehmi Chassion reached out to explain his vote and has been clear that on Monday he will vote No on naming a bridge after Trump. I wanted you all to know that Mike Echols appears to be using this issue to score political points with Trump — not to secure funding for the project, but to seek an endorsement. Senate 'Republicans' are LYING to you. John Thune is avoiding a simple majority vote on the SAVE America Act because he does not actually want it to pass. He wants a failure vote to PROTECT the worst members of the Senate by giving them credit for a 'Yes' vote knowing it will fail because it needs 60 votes. This is worse than we thought...
