Two years ago today, Elon Musk introduced xAI with these words: “The overarching goal of xAI is to build a good AGI with the purpose of trying to understand the universe. I think the safest AI, the safest way to build an AI is actually make one that is maximally curious and truth seeking. So you go for try to aspire to the truth with acknowledged error. Does one ever actually get fully to the truth? It's not clear, but one should always aspire to that and try to minimize the error between what you think is true and what is actually true. My theory behind the maximally curious, maximally truthful as being probably the safest approach is that I think to a superintelligence, humanity is much more interesting than not humanity. One can look at the various planets in our solar system, the moons and the asteroids, and really probably all of them combined are not as interesting as humanity. I think there's also a lot to be done with AI safety, with industry cooperation. I kind of like Motion Pictures association, so I think there's value to that as well. But I do think there's got to be some like in any kind of situation that is, even if it's a game, they have referees. So I think it is important for there to be regulation. Like I said, my view on safety is like try to make it maximally curious, maximally truth seeking. And I think this is, this is important that you to avoid the inverse morality problem. Like if you try to program a certain morality, you can have the, you, you can basically invert it and get the opposite, what is sometimes called the Waluigi problem. If you make Luigi, you risk creating Waluigi at the same time. So I think that's a metaphor that a lot of people can appreciate.”

Let's assume we close down another thousand points today. I understand why there's a lot of teeth-gnashing, and I get it, but I'm kind of a long-term guy when I look at P/E ratios. So we took the market down from sort of 22 P/E to now around 17 and a half as of this hour, which historically is not, not a bad place to enter if you want to think about long-term sustaining returns. So I'm looking at it, and I've started to nibble. I'm not gonna catch the bottom, but 17 P/E sounds pretty good to me on the S&P 500. Now we go to the question of what happens regarding all these tariffs? You’ve got two pieces to this negotiation. One is remove all tariffs, I'm 100% for that. Everybody's willing to cut a deal to zero tariff both ways as part of a package. I believe in economics driving everything at the end of the day, and I don't think the Trump administration is stupid. They know they've gotta start negotiating deals and show the world what the outcome of this is gonna be.

And, you know, there are a number of different technologies we can outline, but the task in this world where politics has become so broken and so dysfunctional is to find a way to escape from it. It's not a way to fix it. It is a way to escape. And there are, you know, a number of different options. I think the promising one of the 1990s and this last decade has been to escape onto the Internet and to sort of create an alternate virtual reality. Questions, of course, is still how does it intersect with the real world? There are, I think, escaping to outer space is a promise, although I think the space technology is not quite there. 🐹 To think of it, we were fans of artists who speak different languages from us but we didn’t think differently of them because they spoke a different language. 🐹 I was a fan of them and still am and I don’t think a language is a barrier. 🐹 I’ve always cared more about the emotions in their music and who they are as a person so I don’t think the language barrier is an issue. 🐹 When our fans show us love, I think they feel the same way.

I explain why the accusation that Israel is committing "genocide" is blood libel. Me: The application of the word genocide to refer to tens of thousands of war deaths is, I mean, I think it is a kind of blood libel. It's trying to import the moral opprobrium that we associate with genocide to a designated enemy, in this case, Israel. I think because I alluded to my side bias, the sides in this case being the sides that a lot of hard left critical theory has defined, namely white oppressors against everyone else's victims. Moynihan: It's pretty strong to say this is like a blood libel. Me: Well, it is a blood libel in the sense that it is an accusation of deliberate murder, ill-founded in that the, and one could disagree with Israel's campaign against Gaza, one could say that this is not justifiable, it's not a just war. It's still different from deliberately murdering as many people as possible, as in, and we know there have been genocides. I think it really is a terrible blood libel, and it's a sign of how people's moralizing in the service of demonizing and dichotomizing, dividing the world into good and evil can just flatten their ability to analyze and to think clearly.
