Evangelion (1995 vs 2009)

better in 80s

2009 movie is nice until you see the CGI angel. Now you could say it adds to its alien nature but 1995 version is more visually coherent.

1995 is so much better, I don't get the pale colors of 2009

some things are done better. well some things aren't. Now if you take the best of both animation parts that be something, it would be perfect. Like this part here the 1995 was better an more clean. But alot of the 2009 was overall better in areas.

2009 may be shinier, I'll give it that, but 1995 is overall superior.

It's not like the new animation is bad, but it's entirely unnecessary. It's like painting over the monalisa to give her a spicier haircut...

as clean as the rebuild looks, the old one I feel not only looks better but fits with it with its more gritty look

Many remakes of anime have lost their original artistic aesthetics, but the new Evangelion seems to present the same amazing artistic value ❤️ This is no longer a matter of the era or the style of the animation, but rather that it still has a strong artistic aesthetic.

Usually I always Watch the Older Anime and Not the New Release... Like this Example I prefer the Older one. But the Only Time it wasnt the case for me is with: Fruit Basket. I watched the Original and Rage quit at Episode 6 because it was Childish. But the 2019 version is Gold.

I havent watched either. Which should I pick?

The road being crushed by the Eva is a nice touch in the new version, but the Angel doesn't feel as large as in the original version. The camera angle doesn't provide scale. Then the ghost comes out and its just a spooky story instead of humanity fighting something truly strange

The newer one is definitely going all-out, but I have to pick hand animation over CGI every time on principle.

What was Anno's explanation for Sahaquiel being whatever that was in the rebuild? I preferred the idea of each angel being unique and learning from the previous angels attempt. In the rebuild it's either skeleton black weird thingy or talking/screaming weird thingy

Great. I just realized that we are now further away from the 2009 remake than the 2009 remake was from the original. Not only am I feeling old, but I feel time accelerating on an exponential curve. Catch y'all in the old folks' home in what feels like 15 minutes...
