Ever used a request stop? At these lightly-used stations, passengers on the platform have to flag down the train so that it stops. On the Far North Line between Inverness, Wick and Thurso, we now have request to stop buttons which passengers need to press.

A button is much safer than standing past the yellow platform line waving your hand at a train, like the folks in your vid 🔘👍🏼

It's more accessible, too - means folk who might struggle to wave don't need to worry about it stopping. And if the weather's naff, there's no need for anyone to leave the shelter! ^Angus

Yep! The opposite end of the country from you, but when I realised that I was going to pass Lympstone Commando on the way to Exmouth I couldn't resist a little break of journey! The stop before it is only a mile away and also a request stop, so I got two in a day and a nice walk.

Used to have to put your hand out at Ardlui as I recall. I am typing this with my other hand 😁

Can you do this at Dumbarton East?

Nope! ^Angus

I would have though with folk standing on the platform the driver would stop anyway, it's not like the next train is 5 minutes behind

Yea I don't think i will request to get off right this minute ... .

how rather fab

Like a bus you put your arim out I love that idea
