Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the derailment in the Lewes area, especially those who were injured, along with their families, friends and loved ones. Our absolute priority continues to be the welfare of our passengers, colleagues and all those impacted by this incident. We are working closely with Network Rail, the emergency services, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and wider industry partners to support those affected and to assist the ongoing response and investigation. In this video, our chief executive officer, John Whitehurst, who has been with recovery teams in Lewes, reflects on the difficult operation and provides an update on our services whilst the recovery effort continues. We recognise the impact this incident is having on customers and local communities and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. The line between Haywards Heath and Lewes remains closed, with buses running to and from Plumpton and Cooksbridge. ⚠️Storm Floris disruption to continue into Tuesday⚠️ Storm Floris continues to bring very strong and disruptive winds across Scotland, with an amber Met Office warning in place until 23:00 across Glasgow, Edinburgh, and all areas north of the Central Belt area. A further yellow warning is in place across all other areas of Scotland, until the end of today. The damage caused by the storm has been extensive, including trees falling onto overhead wires and tracks. Network Rail will soon begin work to recover the railway, as a number of routes will need to be inspected once the storm has passed and then repair work carried out. While some checks will be carried out later tonight, further inspections will be needed during daylight hours, which will cause disruption to services on some routes on Tuesday morning. Customers planning to travel on Tuesday should check their journey before travelling using the ScotRail app, website and our page. Dear Nigeria Railway Corporation (NIGERIAN RAILWAY CORPORATION), I must commend your professionalism and I have enjoyed your services using the train from Lagos to Ibadan and Abuja to Kaduna. Since I discovered the Lagos to Ibadan train, I have reduced my road trips from Lagos to Ibadan by 5%. On the few occasions when I opted to use the road, it was because there were no night journeys. I think if the Corporation can adopt night journey through the Lagos to Ibadan route, Nigerians can comfortably live in Ibadan and travel to Lagos daily to work. This will decongest the population in Lagos. However, this is not where I am going. You need to improve your services, passengers should be able to edit their tickets and change their travel schedules. A lot of times, my schedule will change after buying a train ticket. Unfortunately, the ticket can't be opened or rescheduled for another date or time. No refund policy, I agree with this, but ticket(s) booked should be open for amendment. You need to improve your backend and invest more in your IT to ensure that passengers enjoy the flexibility of your services. Passengers should be able to use their ticket(s) if their schedule changes possibly inserting a change period (timeframe). I'm an apostle of the train services and I implore people to experience it. Safe, comfortable, and fun.
