I am not required to complicate my life to help other people raise their children. Put down the wine glass and xanax and go be a parent. They're kids. They can't get phones and computers unless YOU yourself bought them. Stop giving your kids tech if you refuse to manage them.

I'm all for preventing kids from accessing the internet, but the responsibility of this is supposed to be with the parents -- to protect and monitor the content their children are subjected to -- not the government. Parents can put child protections in place so their kids can't access websites they shouldn't. You can password protect certain websites, get you child their own account and only allow that account to access specific websites, there are even apps and ad-ons you can use to prevent people from going to certain websites. If the government truly cared about protecting kids, they would be doing something about grooming gangs, they would be actually persecuting criminals who assault kids.

Twisted logic and irrational and emotional arguments undermine any sympathy I might have for the law he had forced on us. Justifying the unjustifiable using upside down emotional arguments fails miserably. There are so many easier ways to protect children - and it is NOT the government's job to interfere with our freedom to be parents. The roads are dangerous - so we should stop ALL children from using the roads? No. We teach them how to cross the road safely. Same with the internet - we should teach them to use the internet safely, not reduce everything on the internet to something suitable only for children. Infantaliising everyone to protect the government is absurd!

It never was about protecting the kids. The ultimate goal of it all is the eradication of internet anonymity, as well as the policing of thoughts not approved by the government. Digital IDs are a slippery slope towards restricting internet access for people posting thoughts the government doesn't approve of. Once every service is gated behind face scans and you need a digital ID to access the internet - any thought that isn’t government-approved, aka independent or controversial, will get you flagged and put on a list. And as every service will require a digital ID, being flagged means you’ll be blocked from going online before they throw you in jail - just because you posted something the government doesn't approve of. Just like it has been happening in the UK to people who mentioned the grooming gangs.
