China opposes US sanctions against Russia's two largest oil companies, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said. "China always opposes unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are unauthorized by the UN Security Council. Dialogue and negotiation is the only viable way out of the Ukraine crisis. Coercion and putting pressure on others do not solve the problem," he said during the briefing. Foreign ministry spokesperson also added that China "firmly deplores" the UN sanctions against 12 Chinese companies, accused of helping Russia circumvent Western sanctions.
