The situation in Al-Mahra Governorate is unclear. The southern forces that were previously based there have essentially pledged loyalty to the Southern Forces Command of the Southern Transitional Council المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي (STC). At the same time, there has been an increased mobilization of the National Shield Forces قوات درع الوطن (NSF) in Al-Mahra. The first NSF wave took control of positions where Saudi forces had been active, including Nashton Port and Al-Ghaydah Airport. However today, the NSF started securing key government buildings. For the moment, the border posts with Oman in Sarfait and Shahan continue to fly the southern flag, and the borders remain open. It would not be surprising, however, if they were closed given the ongoing security turmoil. In short, the situation in Al-Mahra remains unresolved. It is still unclear which side will emerge as the dominant security and military force: the Saudi-backed National Shield Forces or the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council forces.

Al-‘Abr is a critical choke point for all traffic moving from the N5 Hadramawt–Mahra highway toward Ma’rib, as well as for movement from the Al-Wadi‘a Saudi border crossing into the rest of Yemen. It also serves as a transit hub for northern Shabwa, giving it exceptional strategic value. One of the circulating videos shows STC-aligned soldiers in Al-‘Abr dancing and celebrating after securing the area. A second and third video appears to show wounded soldiers from the 23rd Mechanized Brigade being held as prisoners of war. With the Southern Transitional Council now in control of Al-‘Abr, it effectively commands all supply routes, logistical corridors, and ground lines of communication leading to the Yemen National Army’s Third, Sixth, and Seventh Military Regional Commands based in Ma’rib. The Violations of the Shaykhs of Aden Whom are defended by Arafat Al-Muhammadi (With chronological events and video and photo evidence sufficient for every fair-minded person and methodologically sound Salafi) The following video presents documented audio, video and photographic evidence showing that the Shaykhs of Aden who are defended by Arafat al-Muhammadi after the following actions, supported the separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC) against Yemen’s legitimate president, Rashād al-ʿAlīmī. After the STC advanced into Ḥaḍramawt in December 2025 despite warnings from President al-ʿAlīmī and Saudi Arabia, the videos show six named Aden shaykhs urging cooperation with STC armed forces, praying for them, and celebrating their victories during their rebellion, unlike Shaykh ʿAlī al-Ḥudhayfī, who refrained due to it being taking part in rebellion against the legitimate ruler and against the directives of Saudi Arabia. The evidence further shows that when Shaykh ʿAbdullāh al-Bukharī issued a fatwa affirming obedience to President al-ʿAlīmī as obligatory, the Aden shaykhs failed to collectively publish or endorse it, using their centralized media channels called “the Aden Shaykhs” that is recognized by the STC and the common people of Aden alike to post the collective positions of all of them. After Saudi airstrikes on the STC, STC rebel leader Aidarus al-Zubaidi announced a separatist constitutional declaration (2 Jan 2026), and subsequently Salah Kantūsh is shown calling him the rebel leader “one of the major rulers.” Watch the video for more details. Today after the rebellion failed the Shaykhs of Aden lie and claim that they were always with legitimacy and never with the STC, while the video and audio evidence shown disproves that. Hence, if a raging blind follower comes to you showing the Shaykhs of Aden today affirming the legitimacy of President Rashād al-ʿAlīmī and renouncing the STC without repenting from what we have shown above with video and photo evidence, then it is clear that they are simply trying to save face since the rebellion they supported failed thanks to the Kingdom of Tawḥīd, Saudi Arabia. May Allah preserve it. Shaykh Rabee Al-Madkhali (رحمه الله) said regarding Yemen, “Be with the coalition, be with Saudi Arabia.” From the video below, it’s as clear as the sun in the sky for one who’d like to recognize it that the Shaykhs of Aden and their defender, Arafat Al-Muhammadi, violated this fatwa because they abandoned obedience to their ruler during rebellion, they were not with the coalition, and they were not with Saudi Arabia. The Violations of the Shaykhs of Aden Whom are defended by Arafat Al-Muhammadi (With chronological events and video and photo evidence sufficient for every fair-minded person and methodologically sound Salafi) The following video presents documented audio, video and photographic evidence showing that the Shaykhs of Aden who are defended by Arafat al-Muhammadi after the following actions, supported the separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC) against Yemen’s legitimate president, Rashād al-ʿAlīmī. After the STC advanced into Ḥaḍramawt in December 2025 despite warnings from President al-ʿAlīmī and Saudi Arabia, the videos show six named Aden shaykhs urging cooperation with STC armed forces, praying for them, and celebrating their victories during their rebellion, unlike Shaykh ʿAlī al-Ḥudhayfī, who refrained due to it being taking part in rebellion against the legitimate ruler and against the directives of Saudi Arabia. The evidence further shows that when Shaykh ʿAbdullāh al-Bukharī issued a fatwa affirming obedience to President al-ʿAlīmī as obligatory, the Aden shaykhs failed to collectively publish or endorse it, using their centralized media channels called “the Aden Shaykhs” that is recognized by the STC and the common people of Aden alike to post the collective positions of all of them. After Saudi airstrikes on the STC, STC rebel leader Aidarus al-Zubaidi announced a separatist constitutional declaration (2 Jan 2026), and subsequently Salah Kantūsh is shown calling him the rebel leader “one of the major rulers.” Watch the video for more details. Today after the rebellion failed the Shaykhs of Aden lie and claim that they were always with legitimacy and never with the STC, while the video and audio evidence shown disproves that. Hence, if a raging blind follower comes to you showing the Shaykhs of Aden today affirming the legitimacy of President Rashād al-ʿAlīmī and renouncing the STC without repenting from what we have shown above with video and photo evidence, then it is clear that they are simply trying to save face since the rebellion they supported failed thanks to the Kingdom of Tawḥīd, Saudi Arabia. May Allah preserve it. Shaykh Rabee Al-Madkhali (رحمه الله) said regarding Yemen, “Be with the coalition, be with Saudi Arabia.” From the video below, it’s as clear as the sun in the sky for one who’d like to recognize it that the Shaykhs of Aden and their defender, Arafat Al-Muhammadi, violated this fatwa because they abandoned obedience to their ruler during rebellion, they were not with the coalition, and they were not with Saudi Arabia. UAE-funded activities are shutting down on the Yemeni island of Socotra. Circulated videos shows the dismantling of a site that was intended to host the UAE’s annual Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival on the island. There are also reports that Emirati-linked business activities, particularly in the fisheries sector, as well as UAE-based travel agencies operating in Socotra, are closing down. These developments follow a decision by Yemen’s Saudi-backed, internationally recognized government to halt all direct maritime commercial shipping and airline traffic from the UAE to the island. To the best of my knowledge, there are currently no UAE military forces stationed on Socotra. The only foreign military presence on the island is a Saudi military task force operating alongside local forces. These local units have historically been aligned with the Southern Transitional Council المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي العربي, but like other southern forces across South Yemen, they are now pledging loyalty to the Saudi-backed Yemeni government.
