Fairfax County Police have released footage of an officer running over a pedestrian, who was lying in the roadway after having been struck by a separate driver during a hit-and-run. On September 23rd at 8:39pm, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Richmond Highway & Belford Drive in Hybla Valley, Virginia for a hit-and-crash involving a pedestrian. A black Mercedes was seen striking a pedestrian and fleeing the scene. While arriving to the scene, a Fairfax County police officer struck the pedestrian, who was still in the roadway. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded and immediately began performing life-saving measures. Trina Jones, 62, of Alexandria was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The officer has been identified as Officer Jalin Phillips, a 2-year veteran of the department. He is on restricted-duty status while the investigation continues.

Footage has been released of an officer-involved shooting in Fairfax County, Virginia, where a suspect hiding in heavy brush suddenly grabbed a police officer’s gun 🚨 Fairfax County, Virginia — On July 28, 2026, at approximately 9:57 a.m., Fairfax County Police Officers responded to a residence in the 7000 block of Sutter Lane in Annandale for a domestic incident involving a man armed with a knife. More proof that safety is not a Metro “core value”: It’s bad enough the public does it, but no fewer than three Metrobus drivers ignored the safety of DC Fire and EMS Department firefighters and violated city traffic regulations. Each driver drove into a “block where fire apparatus has stopped in answer to a fire alarm.” They also drove over “unprotected hose of a fire department when laid down on any street.” This was a small fire at Connecticut & Calvert NW a short time ago. This has been the law since at least 1949. The danger to firefighters that Metro and the other drivers presented is significant. Besides possibly hitting a firefighter, the vehicles can cut off the water supply for a fire. In this case, the hose was an attack line carried in the arms of firefighters. It could have been dragged out of their hands, injuring the firefighters. Randy Clarke, your drivers should be setting examples for the rest of us if safety is, as you keep saying, a core value. They should stop until directed by police or firefighters. This can also help keep other drivers from becoming a hazard. The fact that all three bus drivers who arrived at the intersection did the same thing indicates that this is a systemic problem involving training or supervision. Charlotte Fire Responds to Three-Alarm Fire on East Morehead Street This morning, Charlotte Fire responded to a significant fire at a building located in the 300 block of East Morehead Street. At 7:47 a.m., Charlotte Fire Comms Charlotte Fire Alarm received a report of heavy smoke at the address. Firefighters were immediately dispatched, with the first unit en route by 7:48 a.m. At 7:51 a.m., Ladder 4, Engine 11, Engine 4, and Engine 2 arrived on scene. Engine 2 assumed initial command of the incident. Upon arrival, Ladder 4 reported heavy fire conditions in the basement of the structure. Additional fire apparatus were dispatched to support the response. At 7:56 a.m., Battalion 1 assumed command and escalated the response to a second alarm at 7:57 a.m. As conditions worsened, Car 7 took command at 8:01 a.m. At 8:02 a.m., an evacuation tone was sounded, instructing firefighters to exit the structure due to safety concerns. By 8:04 a.m., a roof collapse was imminent, and at 8:30 a.m., the structural integrity of the walls was also compromised. A third alarm was struck at 8:42 a.m., bringing additional resources to the scene. After an intense firefighting operation, the fire was brought under control at 10:23 a.m. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. “The dedication and quick action of our firefighters prevented what could have been a far worse outcome,” said Charlotte Fire Chief Reginald Johnson. “Their ability to make decisive, tactical decisions under extreme conditions speaks to their training and professionalism. Yesterday evening, Gardaí were called out to a level crossing in Kiltybo, near Ballyhaunis, after receiving reports of a collision between a car and a train. Upon arrival, they found the child inside the car and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem. The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital by ambulance, where his injuries are understood not to be life-threatening. The scene is due to be examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road will remain closed for the time being. FDNY arrived to thick, heavy smoke pouring from the windows, where an elderly woman stood trapped, waiting for someone to rescue her. Firefighters rushed in, took a portable ladder, and pulled her out of the burning structure to safety as fire spread rapidly across multiple floors, filling the building with thick smoke. As New York’s Bravest battled the fire and searched for victims inside the burning structure, a steel wall suddenly collapsed on them, trapping two firefighters inside. FDNY rescue teams pushed through dangerous conditions and pulled them out alive. They were taken to the hospital in stable condition. Victims were pulled from the building as the fire continued to burn. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were rushed to nearby hospitals in critical condition. At approximately p.m., police and fire were dispatched to the report of a crash with injuries involving multiple vehicles. The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Wilson Boulevard at a high rate of speed when they struck a white sedan as it turned onto Wilson Boulevard from N. Vermont Street. As a result of the impact from the initial crash, the vehicles struck two additional vehicles stopped at the traffic light at Wilson Boulevard and N. Glebe Road. The drivers of the pickup truck and the sedan were transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the sedan, an adult female, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the pickup truck, an adult male, remains hospitalized with critical injuries. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
