In Church News Today this Tuesday, Jan. 27: The Church has endorsed the first female active-duty Navy chaplain for the Church. Lt. j.g. Stacie Powell completed the U.S. Naval Chaplaincy School Basic Leadership Course in November. The 49-year-old wife, mother and grandmother is currently stationed at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, near Oaks Harbor, Washington. She says that in times of doubt, she has taken those doubts to the Lord and felt a calm reassurance to have faith and keep going. Read more about her journey at or on the Church News app. The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square have announced the dates for three concerts in São Paulo, Brazil. This is the latest stop on the “Songs of Hope” tour in February and March. The tour has previously stopped in Mexico, the Philippines, the southeastern United States and Argentina.

I can’t get this guy to face an honest intellectual thought in a debate, I can’t help him with his nonexistent sense of humor either. Love to see how he cut off the most important part of my argument, too, because he’s an intellectual coward. So here it is again: "I am still not intelligent enough to consider that what this person says could be true regardless of where they live, that free speech doesn’t stop at America’s borders, that X wasn’t created only for Americans, and that what America does has an effect on the entire world - or simply that the account could be American and temporarily outside the United States, whether on vacation or for any number of other reasons." May he keep going. He’s not very good at any of this.

Things have gotten so expensive in America, this woman says “I have my Masters in Business Administration. My husband is an Engineer — We are living paycheck to paycheck, like it is so hard - Our mortgage has gone up $500 since when we first bought it - Property taxes, they just keep going up and up. So with that, our mortgage just keeps climbing too - We have two kids. With kids comes diaper prices, comes formula, comes everything else that comes with it - Daycare, we were able to find a daycare that's actually pretty inexpensive compared to a lot of other daycares. And even with that, it is still costing more than our mortgage does every month. I'm just so tired, and I know everybody is in the same boat too. Prices are going up for literally everything.Everything. But when it comes to pay, our paychecks will go up, what, a couple percent, but nothing compared to inflation on everything. I just don't understand how we keep doing it. And where's the breaking point? Where does that come in? When do things turn around because there's no end in sight. — We're given this promise basically when we're younger that if you get the degree and you do this and do that right, then like, you'll be set, you'll be golden when it comes to money and not have to worry about it. And then to grow up and face the fact that all of that's bullsh*t, like they fed it into being such a lie in such a trap basically, that everybody is just buried in different student loans. Everybody is buried in different kinds of debt that we'll never get out of, that they promised us would create a safe and happy thriving future. None of it's there. So thanks, boomers and beyond. Elon Musk has a kill switch for AI Tucker Carlson asks him about people who say the only way to stop advanced AI is to blow up the buildings it runs in. Elon Musk says you would not have to. Musk: "The really heavy duty intelligence is not going to be distributed all over the place. It will be in a limited number of service centers." Musk: "If you could just look at the heat signature from space, it will be very obvious." The target is small, and visible. Musk: "You don't have to blow it up, you can just cut the power." Musk: "Cut connectivity as well." Carlson asks what would have to happen first. Musk: "I guess if we lost some control of some super AI. The things that would normally work to pause or shut down, like the administrator passwords, if they somehow stopped working." Musk: "If it's something that we're concerned about and are unable to stop it with software commands, then we probably want to have some kind of hardware off switch." Then it turns to why anyone would build this at all. Musk, describing the view he disagrees with: "All consciousness should be treated equally, whether that is digital or biological." Carlson: "So you're just building your own slave master. Why would you do that?" Musk: "Doesn't sound great." Musk: "No need to rush, you know? What's the hurry? Where's the fire?" His contingency plan is not to stop the build. It is to keep one switch that software cannot reach.
