𝟑𝟔𝟓 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓: 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐉𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐘 𝐀𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙨 𝟯𝟲𝟱 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙪𝙨, 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙨. It has been one whole year since DustBia Official was created— a journey that began as a simple group supporting 𝗗𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮 𝗗𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗮, but grew into something so much deeper. Here we are, 365 days later, still standing and still loving them with the same heart we had at the very beginning. A year ago, we built more than just a fandom; 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. Throughout this year, we have experienced everything together: the happiness, the kilig, the late-night fangirling, the laughter, the misunderstandings, and the challenges that tested us as a community. It truly has been a rollercoaster ride. There were highs that made us feel unstoppable and lows that made us question everything. But through it all, we stayed. 𝙒𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮. 𝗧𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗲𝘀: Thank you for sticking with us through every up and down. Thank you for supporting Dustin, Bianca, DustBia, and one another. Straight into one of the most stacked rooms of builders I've been in this year. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It was the people. Every team I met was building something ambitious! No 🧢. No tourists. No noise. Just founders obsessed with their mission. I pitched Didn't win. And honestly, that's okay 🙂‍↕️ A 2-minute pitch was never enough to explain everything I’ve spent years building: → 11+ AI agents working together → Gasless UX → Account abstraction → Arbitrum-powered rails → Fully automated workflows → AI-native financial infrastructure But that's part of the game. The kind of advice that can save months of building. One word kept coming up: 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀. So I’m acting on it. TogetherFi is now doubling down on: → CreatorFi → GameFi → SocialFi Building the infrastructure layer for the programmable economy powered by AI. When Adam’s stock price dropped by 92% he borrowed money to buy back $6 billion in stock. That bet made the company more than $60 billion: “If no one's going to buy our shares why don't we just start buying our own shares? The company at the bottom was worth $3.8 billion. And we were generating over a billion dollars of EBITDA. Well in theory we could buy back 20% of the shares of the company just in the next year if we really believed in the path we were on. So we kicked that off. But we did it a little bit differently than what most companies do. Most companies go out and say I'm going to buy shares from the public markets and just take shares back. But you don't know who's on the other side of that trade. On the other hand we knew that we had a cap table where about 50% of the shares were going to sell at some point over the coming years. We had private equity investors that owned roughly 50% of the shares of the company alongside some other founders that were no longer there. So instead of going to the public we went to the shareholders that we knew were going to sell and got them to agree to sell back to us over time. And so for the following 18 months we ended up deploying around $6 billion of buybacks using our own capital and we leveraged some to buy back shares in the company. And over time that ended up creating somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 to $60 billion of actual proceeds from the buyback. It was one of the most successful buybacks in the history of companies.”

It’s on YOU to get involved and fight for Western civilization. This war didn't start on October 7th. This war started 25-30 years ago. Here’s why I'm optimistic. Martin Luther King—a great hero and a great Zionist until the day he died—always said, “the moral arc of history is long, but it bends towards justice.” Our cause is the most righteous and moral cause, the most just cause the world has ever known, the cause of Western civilization, the cause of the Judeo-Christian family of religions that gave us monotheism, the Bible, Jesus Christ, and political democracy, and the cause of the crown jewel of this planet Earth, the United States of America, the greatest force for good the world has ever known. We must understand that there is a geostrategic conflict that has already begun and it is on every single one of you—not just me and not just the people you see on TV—it's on you to get involved and fight for Western civilization. One of the things that happens to me when I go around the country to churches is people tell me about dinner parties where there were 8-12 people at the table, one Jew, and someone said “genocide,” “apartheid,” “colonialism.” And the Jew wanted to be polite and didn’t speak up. And a lot of these people will tell me, “You know what? We just assumed it was true because the Jew didn’t say anything.” And you don't say it. I understand why, because you don't want to make it awkward. You don’t want to ruin a friendship. But here’s the thing: if you don't speak up now, it’ll be much more awkward 20 years from now when every single American assumes that it’s true because you didn't object at the dinner table. And so what gives me optimism is that we as Westerners, we as the Jewish people, Am Hanetzach, the eternal nation who have been around for thousands of years, when we are awakened to the reality that a fight is upon us, we have never, ever lost, and we will not lose this one if we fight it, I guarantee you.

AI legal startups are a thing in 2024. But as Ironclad’s Jason Boehmig puts it, “nobody was trying to buy an AI legal assistant back in 2015.” Ironclad has one of the most interesting and underexplored stories out there IMO. As we were developing First Round's PMF Method, we learned so much from their journey — super grateful Jason took the time to share his insights for other builders. 🙏 Here were a few of my takeaways: 🔬 Zoom in to find focus “It was actually fairly easy to sign up early customers — what was difficult was finding a product that could address that market. That took us several years of iteration. We had to try to figure out what pieces we could peel off into a repeatable, discrete software product. We quickly realized the really interesting part of the problem was in repeatable business transactions — sales agreements, employment agreements, NDAs licensing agreements, partnership agreements. A lot of our competitors tried to do everything that corporate legal teams do. But we were only doing the contract part.” 📣 Expand an existing category (with an existing buying cycle) But the initial AI legal assistant positioning wasn’t resonating. I’ve talked to 100s of founders about PMF and the story of how Ironclad got unstuck is one of the wildest ones I’ve heard. “100% of the time I had to explain what an AI legal assistant was. We had a hello@ironclad.ai email on our site. One day I got a one-liner message that said, ‘Hello, are you a CLM?’ I was so close to hitting archive, but it was from someone at a publicly traded company. But what was a CLM? Turns out it’s a Contract Lifecycle Management platform that helps enterprise companies create and manage their legal contracts. By that definition, we were. So of course I wrote back, ‘Yes, we are definitely a CLM, we would love to come demo our CLM for you.’ But while we were really great at creating contracts with our AI legal assistant product, we hadn't put a lot of thought into how you deal with contracts afterwards, with a feature called a repository. And so we had set up this demo with the legal team from this publicly traded company, and I turned to my co-founder Cai, and said, ‘By the way, we have 3 hours to build a repository.’ We took the train from SF to San Jose and he built the first version of a repository, which we demoed live at the end of the train ride. This customer was in a CLM evaluation cycle that had 12 other solutions in it, but they loved the demo. So we went and actually built the full product, and we won. And after that, of course, we changed our messaging. We got serious about building CLM functionality and that's our flagship product to this day. There were lots of people out there trying to buy a CLM so we just got to participate in a lot of buying cycles, but with the AI legal assistant buying cycle, we had to create every one of those.” 👥 Artificially constrain the buyer and build community early “One of the things that we did which was really helpful in hindsight was we artificially constrained the buyer we were going after. Once we decided to make the shift to enterprise, instead of trying to address the whole US market or the whole global market, we decided we only cared about being the number one CLM in SoMa. We got a list of every company that could use the CLM in SoMa and got intros to them — it just provided a ton of focus for us. It's how we also stumbled into doing community. We would host these community dinners and if you were a general counsel of a company based in SoMa, you probably knew other people that were coming to them. We just started to get this buzz of ‘Are you going to the Ironclad thing tonight?’ There's a ton of value if you can discover a part of the organization that no one cares about, and connect that part of the organization to a larger business problem.” 📚 Founder-led sales is learnable I was impressed to learn that Jason still sends cold outreach himself to this day. But founder-led sales didn’t come naturally. “A misconception I had about early-stage startups was that the cartoon character salesperson who's slapping everyone on the back and is a total extrovert is the best salesperson. And it's actually the person who's almost like an engineer in their mindset — super methodical, sends great follow ups, could be very shy. It's a very learnable skill.”

And so we had set up this demo with the legal team from this publicly traded company, and I turned to my co-founder Cai, and said, ‘By the way, we have 3 hours to build a repository.’ We took the train from SF to San Jose and he built the first version of a repository, which we demoed live at the end of the train ride. This customer was in a CLM evaluation cycle that had 12 other solutions in it, but they loved the demo. So we went and actually built the full product, and we won. And after that, of course, we changed our messaging. We got serious about building CLM functionality and that's our flagship product to this day. There were lots of people out there trying to buy a CLM so we just got to participate in a lot of buying cycles, but with the AI legal assistant buying cycle, we had to create every one of those.” 👥 Artificially constrain the buyer and build community early “One of the things that we did which was really helpful in hindsight was we artificially constrained the buyer we were going after. Once we decided to make the shift to enterprise, instead of trying to address the whole US market or the whole global market, we decided we only cared about being the number one CLM in SoMa. We got a list of every company that could use the CLM in SoMa and got intros to them — it just provided a ton of focus for us. It's how we also stumbled into doing community. We would host these community dinners and if you were a general counsel of a company based in SoMa, you probably knew other people that were coming to them. We just started to get this buzz of ‘Are you going to the Ironclad thing tonight?’ There's a ton of value if you can discover a part of the organization that no one cares about, and connect that part of the organization to a larger business problem.” 📚 Founder-led sales is learnable I was impressed to learn that Jason still sends cold outreach himself to this day. But founder-led sales didn’t come naturally. “A misconception I had about early-stage startups was that the cartoon character salesperson who's slapping everyone on the back and is a total extrovert is the best salesperson. Let me first get this personal (shameful) record off my chest: I have never seen a tiger in the wild, despite having tried to, in many jungle safaris. Our territory has always been the jungle that spans across the three Southern states - Karnataka (Bandipur, Nagarhole), Tamil Nadu (Mudumalai), and Kerala (Wayanad). From Bengaluru, I may have been to one or the other safaris at least once every 2-3 years or so, with the family. But no tiger sighting... ever! Earlier this week, we checked into Serai at Kabini, into a spectacular river-facing cottage. And we did two safaris - a jungle safari in the early morning and a river safari in the evening. But, no tiger sighted, as per our sorry luck. We checked out on Friday morning, as planned, and started our drive back to Bengaluru. After driving for a kilometer, we thought completely at random, 'Why not stay for another night and try to change our terrible luck?'. Yes, it is expensive, but beyond the fact that we can afford it, there was also a thought that we are overindulging in this holiday! But the tiger (or the lack of sighting one) won in the end, and we stopped by the road and started calling the resorts nearby for room availability for that day. Luckily, Kaav Safari Lodge, had a room available and we realized that we were calling them from right outside their resort, literally! We checked in, had lunch and headed for the afternoon safari! And, towards the end, we were rewarded with our first ever tiger sighting! Not just a distant sighting but of a female tiger getting up from a slumber, walking towards our jeep, pissing on a tree (not mere pissing, but marking its territory, as we got to know), walk scarily close to our jeep, and cross the road very calmly! And now I realize what pure magic this magnificent animal is! Thanks to breaking convention, ignoring best laid plans, and doing the unexpected! On that note, considering all these old forest jeeps and canters make such a racket, why don't we have silent, electric vehicles inside the forest yet, to not disturb animals?

(jaehee's holiday stories with his older brothers) 🌳and! after a few days... i went to watch baseball game😅 so i went to watch baseball game and... uhm... i even went with wearing sunglasses and mask. but... so i went with my older brothers, we three brothers went. and we had a bit of strategy. we went to blue zone right. so instead, we decided to go to blue zone so we won't stand out, blending into the crowd to watch the game and leave quickly. we opened the chicken and were eating it then stood up to do cheering during the cheering time, and that was the moment we got caught on camera during the live stream. ah behind us! there were some super cute kids behind us, holding some slogans. so... i think that's why we got caught on camera... during the live stream. 🌳that was what happened... 🌳we somehow ended up getting caught on camera there so...😆 and! after getting caught on camera, that i got caught on camera... about the one i got caught on camera, in groupchat, suddenly... so i was enjoying the baseball game but i suddenly got a message from our manager hyungs, asking "is this you? the one who got caught on camera during the live stream". so they asked "is this you?" and i went "oh...?! yes!..." like this😂😅 so we watched until like the 6th or 7th inning and left. ah... truly... that was what happened😆 player Diaz hit a home run at the very beginning and that made me feel a huge dopamine rush so i had so much fun. it's been years since i went Lions Park to watch the game and it was fun🙂‍↕️ the energy was good, like... i think baseball fans are all truly very awesome. them being able to get so hyped cheering and enjoying it... the same goes to czennie, and i also... was next to them so i cheered my heart out😊 🌳i don't know much about baseball cheerings but being there made me just ended up memorizing it naturally. people singing next to me... everyone there was singing you know, "home run!👏🏻", they did something like this a lot.

Do you know why I love Barcelona? Because only in Barcelona can you stumble into all of this in one single Saturday. We started at Palau de la Música Catalana for Madama Butterfly. It's the only concert hall in Europe lit completely by daylight, through a stained glass dome built in 1908. After we walked outside, we noticed a big gathering of people, so we headed to see what was going on. A helicopter was circling the Cathedral square, dropping thousands of small poems out of the sky. Half written by Catalan poets, half by Chilean ones. I didn't know what it was at the time, but I researched it after, and it's a one-time art project called "Bombardeig de Poemes," marking 50 years since the end of the Franco dictatorship. Then, a few streets over, we found the Kiss mural. From far away, it's two people kissing. Up close, it's 4,000 individual photo tiles, each one sent in by a local back in 2014. Had no idea what it was, but apparently it's one of the most photographed spots in the city. Finally, ended the night at the Magic Fountain in Montjuïc. Built in 1929, it's free every night it runs. None of this was planned. We didn't look any of it up beforehand, we just walked into it. That's also the annoying part, you can't plan a day like this. This is why I'll never get tired of this city.
