Been running 28 agents across 4 industries for over a year now. File system isn't just an abstraction for us, it's the entire coordination layer. Every agent reads JSON state, does its work, writes state back. No message queues, no pub/sub. Just files. The surprising part - it's more reliable than the distributed systems we tried first.
