Yesterday, I have visited the Kumki Elephant Training Camp at Musalamadugu, Palamaneru and was delighted to see the excellent care and training being given to the elephants. With the help of these Kumkis, we have successfully carried out two operations, bringing great relief and happiness to the local communities. We are taking special care of the Kumkis — just as they were lovingly cared for in Karnataka. Our forest teams are continuously monitoring their health, conducting regular check-ups, and providing every necessary care and comfort. This collaboration between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka reflects our shared commitment to wildlife protection and compassionate coexistence. We are deeply thankful to the Government and people of Karnataka for their invaluable support in providing these Kumki elephants to Andhra Pradesh. Our special thanks to Ms. Meenakshi Negi, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & HoFF, and Sri Subhash Malkhede, Chief Wildlife Warden, Karnataka, for their guidance and cooperation in this effort. Special thanks to the people of Dubare and Sakrebyle for their warmth, support, and for wholeheartedly accepting and sending these Kumkis to Andhra Pradesh. These elephants have played a vital role in resolving human–elephant conflicts and ensuring safety for both people and wildlife. My heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri Siddaramaiah Garu, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Sri DK Shivakumar Garu, and Hon’ble Forest Minister Sri Eshwar Khandre Garu for their kind cooperation and partnership in this noble effort. - Pawan Kalyan PMO India MoEF&CC CM of Karnataka PIB India I & PR Andhra Pradesh PIB in Andhra Pradesh #KumkiElephants

From Kumkis to AI: Andhra Pradesh Leads the Way in Human–Wildlife Coexistence To address the rising Man–Animal Conflict, especially wild elephant intrusions near forest villages, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched an AI-based solar-powered detection and deterrence system in Chittoor Division, under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. Earlier, with the support of the Karnataka Government, 4 Kumki elephants were brought to Andhra Pradesh and successfully assisted in multiple operations to safely guide wild elephants back to their forest habitats. Now, taking this forward, advanced AI & Machine Learning–powered systems are being deployed to detect elephants, trigger mild deterrents, and send real-time alerts to forest officials ensuring safety for both people and wildlife. With 120° coverage and a 60-meter range, these systems continuously monitor sensitive zones, preventing crop damage and minimizing conflict. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Sri Narendra Modi ji and Hon’ble CM Sri N Chandrababu Naidu garu, this initiative by Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan embodies how technology and compassion can come together for a sustainable, humane future. Innovation with heart. Protection with purpose. PMO India MoEF&CC CMO Andhra Pradesh #TechnologyForGood #HumanAnimalConflict #AndhraPradesh

Today marks a historic milestone in the perpetual ethos of cooperation and unity between the esteemed states of Bharat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. I am immensely grateful for the gracious gesture of Karnataka Government, in handing over the Kumki elephants to Andhra Pradesh at the prestigious Vidhana Soudha. This is not just an administrative formality, but a testament of cooperative federalism. These trained Kumki elephants play a crucial role in mitigating the loss of human lives and crop damage caused by wild elephant attacks resulting from human-wildlife conflict in Andhra Pradesh. What makes this even more special is the spirit in which it was done. The moment our state raised the proposal, the response from the Karnataka Government was swift, respectful, and above politics. On behalf of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, I extend heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Siddaramaiah Garu, the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Sri DK Shivakumar Garu, and especially to the Minister for Forest and Environment, Sri Eshwar Khandre Garu, for their unwavering support, cooperation, and key role in facilitating the MoU and ensuring a smooth process. I firmly believe that this strong bond of friendship and collaboration between both states will continue to flourish in the years to come. At Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary I met Dr.Arun Zacharia, an accomplished veterinary surgeon who is also a font of knowledge regarding wild animals, the forest and related issues. His experience and that of the forest officials is key to understanding and managing the animal-man conflict in the area. Part of this effort is the training and use of Kumki elephants that drive away rogue wild elephants when they stray into human habitations. Man- animal conflict in Wayanad is a complex problem for which all of us have to collaborate and find workable solutions.

Imagine a world without elephants. Imagine forests without them. They would never be as rich, resilient and alive as they are when elephants roam through them as ecosystem engineers ! India is so lucky to have elephants. The latest Wildlife Institute of India DNA-based assessment estimates 22,446 wild elephants in India, meaning India is home to roughly half of the world’s remaining wild Asian elephants. Within India, the Western Ghats are the great elephant stronghold. Karnataka (6,013), Tamil Nadu (3,136) and Kerala (2,785) together have 11,934 elephants, more than 53% of India’s entire estimated population. Tamil Nadu has the third-highest elephant population in the country, after Karnataka and Assam. India’s top five elephant states are: Karnataka 6,013 | Assam 4,159 | Tamil Nadu 3,136 | Kerala 2,785 | Uttarakhand 1,792. Together they account for nearly 80% of India’s elephants. This #WorldElephantDay, we must resolve to do everything we can to conserve elephants #worldElephantDay2026 #elephants #elephantday Brilliant capture Pravin Shanmughanandam

In flower market, Kurnool, AP, when a Hindu farmer brought his flowers to sell, ‘middlemen’ (exploiters) are blocking him from selling in the market. This is cruel. They are demanding ₹80,000 to be paid to them to sell, else leave the flowers brought that day and leave, warned him not to come there and sell his crop elsewhere from the next day. Those exploiters are speaking Urdu wearing skull caps. People will cry on me when I expose the atrocities of Islamists. But look how the markets are occupied and controled by them!! Any justice?
