We’ve added two new stages at Disrupt 2026 in part because we’ve gotten feedback on two important tracks for the AI-driven landscape we’re in right now: There’s the Smart Money Stage, for the capital-allocation questions investors are actually wrestling with in this market. And there’s the Smart Systems Stage, which is all about the infrastructure and operational decisions that determine whether an AI product holds up at scale, long after a demo’s concluded. That’s on top of our traditional AI stage, the Builder’s Stage highlighting practical, tactical advice, and our flagship Disrupt stage. Current ticket pricing ends this Friday, August 21 at 11:59 p.m. PT. And if you want access to one, or all those stages, now’s the best time to register:

❗️❗️🇺🇸🇮🇷Tehran has rapidly widened its multi-front assault against Washington, launching a fresh volley of ballistic missiles directly from northwestern Iran at a critical joint US-Jordanian airbase. At least five heavy Iranian ballistic missiles targeted the strategic Muwaffaq Salti Air Base near Azraq, a vital operational hub shared by the United States and the Royal Jordanian Air Force. Air defense systems were immediately activated across the region, triggering intense interception engagements in the night sky. While active combat operations are still ongoing, Western military officials are scrambling to assess whether any of the Iranian missiles successfully penetrated the defensive shield to score direct hits on the highly sensitive installation. By directly striking a military installation inside Jordan, Iran is deliberately tearing up the regional security architecture to test the breaking point of American and Arab collective defense. This aggressive expansion of the target list demonstrates that Tehran is no longer content with localized skirmishes, opting instead for an all-out, unrestricted ballistic war designed to overwhelm regional air defenses and physically drive American forces out of the Middle East.

Look at how American children live! I filmed this on my way home from New York City after attending the World Falun Dafa Day parade a few days ago. I happened to get stuck behind a school bus, which kept stopping and delayed me quite a bit — but it also gave me a chance to closely observe the happy lives of these children. As you can see, the school bus drops each child off right at their home. Sometimes two houses are only five or ten meters apart, yet the bus still stops separately for each family. It doesn’t try to save time by dropping the children somewhere in between and making them walk home on their own. Around the 10-second mark in the video, you can see a small child get off the bus and cross the street to go home. That’s why in the United States, whenever a school bus stops, not only must all the cars behind it stop, but even the cars coming from the opposite direction must stop as well — all to ensure children can cross the road safely. I filmed both of these clips from inside my car. I was quite amazed that day, but I hadn’t had time to share them until now. Today I finally wanted to show everyone. This is what a society built for people looks like! And compare American children's lives with those of Chinese children! A follower of my Chinese language account 曾錚 says that a lot of Chinese middle and high-school students are just like prisoners, and their parents are only allowed to visit them at school once a month!

These days mark 10 years since I left my home, FC Barcelona, where I spent an incredible decade of my professional life. From there, I went on to enjoy my passion for football around the world, and what an incredible journey it’s been! Always learning, always improving, always building…Along the way, I’ve been blessed with a wonderful Wife and amazing three kids, who have always been by my side. As my love for the game remains unshaken, I look forward to the next 10 years of my career with great excitement and ambition, starting this fresh chapter at my new home, FK Vardar. Thank you all who has stuck around! We keep going🙏🏼⚽️

if you know me, you know i only work on & talk about products i actually use as a trader first. given i wanted to get really deep on Backpack Futures, i deposited ~$5k into a fresh subacct when i started my new role at Backpack 🎒 & built a scaling schedule straight out of my prop days simple start → drawdown → clip size sheet. 13 levels, $5k to $100k, with trade count + drawdown rules at each level. the same framework we used to grow accounts in prop took ~4 months, but last week i completed the challenge: → 123 trades logged → ~$30M in volume → $BTC, $ETH, $SOL, $PAXG, $HYPE perps, all on Backpack nothing teaches you an exchange’s dynamics like actually trading on it. all the small nits, the microstructure quirks — you only find them by living in the product so what’s next? topping up with a fresh $100k and going deep on stock trading with Backpack Securities. public beta is live, v2 right around the corner, and i’ve been wanting to make this pivot for a while given everything happening on the equities side — AI, robotics, quantum, space time to run it back from $200k this time 😉🎒

Introducing Poetic: a new AI system that executes complex multi-hour tasks with 99%+ accuracy and 10x fewer tokens than agents. We raised $50M at $500M from Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, First Harmonic, and Genius Ventures to build AI that does complex work inside Fortune 500 companies without hallucination. While code is too brittle, agents are too unpredictable. The work that runs the global economy - anti-money laundering, fraud investigations, underwriting - needs extreme accuracy. So we built a new kind of software that pairs the flexibility of AI with the predictability of code. When the world stays the same, Poetic runs fixed code: fast, cheap, identical every time. When the world changes, Poetic uses AI to regenerate its approach and find its way back to the objective. In one year, we went from zero to an eight-figure run rate as a team of four. Since then, we’ve scaled the team and executed the highest-stakes processes at AIG, SoFi, and Chime. At SoFi, a large US bank, Poetic reached 99%+ quality on fraud investigations in five weeks.

The moisture question always comes up when I post pics of my indoor pools on my new builds. Step by step below on how I control it. We create a room where moisture can’t escape into other areas of the home while also having a mechanical system in place to pull the moisture out of the air so mildew/mold don’t ever develop in the pool room itself. In the STR space, investors are trying to stand out. Pools rent. Indoor pools rent even better. You can swim in the winter or summer. 1) Pool is always built on lowest floor inside (generally basement structure) 2) Concrete block wall for basement with very little wood frame 3) Densglass (kind of like a moisture resistant drywall) attached to concrete block 4) Special stucco just like you see on exterior of homes sprayed onto Densglass. The stucco is dyed to color of my choice. 5) Industrial grade dehumidifier (I use Santa Fe or Watchdog Brand). The humidity pulled from air is pumped back into the pool system near the mechanical room or outside. 6) Mini split for the pool room. Main floor HVAC covers the sleeping rooms, bathroom of basement and is always separated from pool room. You don’t want chlorinated air running through a main HVAC system. I look at having to replace the minisplit & dehumidifier about every 4 to 5 yrs because of the chlorinated air that goes through them. 7) Exhaust Fan leading to exterior which also pulls humid air out of the room as a supplemental support for the dehumidifier. When overhead lights are turned on, we have it so the exhaust fan kicks on as well. That’s it. We create a “bubble”, where no moisture gets into the other areas of home and the humid air gets pulled from the pool room.

The White House just put a 100% tariff on foreign drones. The message: stop buying from China, start building at home. Powerus has been building at home the whole time, and its supply chain reflects it: a $30M strategic investment from $UMAC (as of this post, trading up 28%!), on top of an existing relationship supplying U.S.-made drone components. Kinetic counter-drone interceptors. Heavy-lift cargo drones. Tactical FPV platforms. Autonomous maritime systems. Manufactured out of Charlotte, North Carolina. The U.S. Air Force is already betting on it too: an IDIQ worth up to $90 million for the Guardian-2 interceptor. A defense prime followed with an order for 1,500 U.S.-made FPV aircraft. Powerus has proposed a merger with Aureus Greenway Holdings (Nasdaq: PUSA), targeted to close in Q4 2026 following SEC effectiveness of the Form S-4 on August 12th. The transaction remains subject to closing conditions, and there is no assurance it will be completed. SOMEONE TURNED THEIR TEAM'S TASK TRACKER INTO A 3D ISLAND instead of a boring list of tasks, your teams work is a little island that grows as you get stuff done > you assign tasks right in slack, just type who its for, the points, and the due date > finish a task and you get to place a building on the island > get your work rejected and the building collapses into rubble > the rubble stays there forever, so everyone can see it > each new sprint starts a fresh island so over time the island fills up with buildings for all the work your team actually finished, and the rubble is a reminder of what got rejected. its open source, so any team can set it up. way more fun than staring at a to do list all day

Jamie Pila: Mamdani’s Presence at the 9/11 Memorial Would Be Disrespectful Jamie Gartenberg Pila never met her father. James Gartenberg was murdered on the 86th floor of the North Tower on September 11, 2001 — six months before she was born. She now serves as a lone soldier in the Israel Defense Forces and still carries a locket with his photo. This week she made her position on Mayor Zohran Mamdani clear. “Mamdani has downplayed the fact that this was an act of terrorism against the United States and democracy,” Jamie said. She specifically cited his 2017 rap song that glorified the “Holy Land 5,” who were convicted of providing material support to Hamas. “This is one occurrence that makes me feel his presence at the ceremony would be disrespectful to the victims and their families.” (Video: AI) Jamie believes the 25th anniversary memorial at Ground Zero is a place for remembrance, not politics. She is asking the mayor to stay home. I stand with Jamie and all of the families of the victims of 9/11 who want to be able to mourn their lost loved ones in peace.

$Softmax vs Sigmoid ✍️ Interact 👉 = Softmax = Softmax is how deep networks turn raw scores into a probability distribution — the final layer of every classifier, and the core of every attention head in a transformer. To see what it does, picture five boba tea shops on the same block, all competing for your dollar. Five candidates: a, b, c, d, e — different chains, different brewing styles, different pearls. A boba reviewer hands you a 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦 for each — higher means perfectly chewy "QQ" pearls with the right bite (ask a Taiwanese friend to find out what QQ means). Negative scores are real: mushy bobas, overcooked pearls, a batch left sitting too long. How do you turn five chewiness scores into an allocation that adds to a whole dollar? You could spend everything at the chewiest shop, but that ignores how good the runners-up are. Softmax is the smooth alternative. Read the diagram left to right. First, raise each score to e^{x} — this does two things: it turns negative chewiness into small positives, and it stretches the gaps between scores exponentially. Then sum all five into a single total Z. Finally, divide each e^{x} by Z to get a probability. The five probabilities add up to one, so you can read them as percentages of your dollar. The chewiest shop gets the biggest slice — but never the whole dollar. That's the point of softmax: it ranks confidently while still leaving room for the others. = Sigmoid = Sigmoid squashes any real number into a probability between 0 and 1 — the classic activation for binary classification, and still the gating function inside LSTMs and GRUs. Same boba block as the previous Softmax example, narrowed to just two contenders — a hot new shop `a` with chewiness score x, and your usual go-to `b` whose score is pinned at zero (the neutral baseline you've come to expect). Sigmoid is just softmax with two players, one of them pinned to zero. Read the diagram left to right. First, raise each score to e^{x} — for the usual shop `b` whose score is zero, this is just e^0 = 1 (the constant baseline). Then sum the two into a total Z. Finally, divide each e^{x} by Z to get a probability. The two probabilities add up to one — the new shop wins more of your dollar when its pearls get chewier, and your usual keeps the rest. That's the point of sigmoid: it turns a single chewiness score into a clean 0-to-1 chance you'll try the new place over your usual. --- AI Math, Algorithms, Architectures by hand ✍️ Subscribe to my 60K+ reader newsletter 👉$

9 hours of a national power outage in Portugal and It felt like lockdown all over again. But here are 5 things I wouldn’t have expected.👇 1/ telephone networks went down very quickly too, so there were no comms 2/ no working ATMs, so no cash 3/ major supermarkets were cash only / closed - those that stayed open killed it 4/ trains down + no phones / apps left people resorting to hitch hiking to get home 5/ only a handful of petrol stations were working so not just EVs would grind to a halt pretty quickly People began stock piling water. Cars were initially gridlocked and the police were on the streets. There was a nervous energy in the air. But there was also a kind of excitement and then a calm. People were playing on quiet streets with their kids and gathering with friends. We had a bbq and found ourselves thinking of a cards against humanity card. Is this is how it ends? Not with a bang but with a… bbq?! Good to have the lights back on! 💡⚡️

I remember working in New York in my mid to late 20s… and the summer would come around… those incredible sunny days in the city… ton of people walking around enjoying themselves… you would only get a glimpse of it at lunch when you split off the desk to wait in line at Dos Toros or the corner deli. Then you’d go right back to your desk to jam on some financial model or some IPO or secondary trade or some mega project the bank as you all doing. And I remember saying to myself… there’s absolutely no way I will be working inside an office on nice days ever again in my life. And that was, in a way, the true beginning.
