I will continue to emphasize this: the building plans went through multiple approval stages, and LASPPPA officers are responsible for monitoring and granting approval at various stages of the construction process. This building did not appear overnight. Some individuals initially approved the site for this project, and LASPPPA officials would have visited the site multiple times. Did they not notice that the building was situated in a waterway? The government cannot effectively address this issue without cleaning up its internal processes. As long as government officials continue to accept bribes from developers for "special treatment" of their files, we will continue to witness situations like this. There is an approval record for this site; trace the file and identify the responsible officers, then apply sanctions to deter others from similar actions.

My question remains: 1. Where was Lagos State and all its building agencies when these structures were being erected. Because if the agencies have been effective in monitoring, they would have inspected all these activities. These structures were not built over-night. Especially considering the fact that these may be inexperienced or misled individuals 2. Can you affirm that your agencies didn't at the least, issue licensing & registration fees prior/during erection because the much I know about Lagos, nothing pertaining to land matters goes unnoticed by the government. Every building project must surely have inspection/approval stage duly performed by your agencies. Meaning your agents/agencies where in the know and may have facilitated/enabled these illegalities. This is so appalling. You can't claim & show off to be doing your job of enforcement when in fact, directly/indirectly you all enabled these. These are very preventable trends. Kindly provide clarification like you're explaining to a 15 year old. Thank you.

Same people will insult Lagos state over flood. Pls let Town Planning Council do their job and stop this nonsense at foundation level. This demolition will be too much, really sad.
