On March 16, 2026, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Dallas Police officers assigned to the Project Safe Neighborhood Task Force located a vehicle that was reported stolen in an armed carjacking on March 15. The officers called for additional units and AIR-1 to maintain visual contact with the vehicle before attempting a traffic stop in the 12300 block of Greenville Avenue. As officers approached and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle, the car took off, and the officers immediately began to pursue it. With AIR-1 overhead, the suspect drove the wrong way down Greenville Avenue, and officers chased the driver onto I-635 with the suspect’s speed approaching 120 miles per hour. The suspect exited the freeway at Jupiter Road and continued to speed through residential areas. Because the helicopter was tracking the suspect, officers were able to safely navigate the residential areas and surface streets, following the suspect back onto I-635. The suspect sped through a construction zone, again reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour until he exited on Town East Boulevard and headed into the City of Mesquite, driving into oncoming traffic into the 2000 block of Town East Boulevard. With traffic building ahead, the suspect attempted to drive over the median and his vehicle became disabled. Dallas Police officers, assisted by officers from Mesquite and deputies from the Dallas Sheriff’s Office, took the suspect into custody. He was identified as 46-year-old Alfredo Hernandez and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a state jail felony; Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, a third-degree felony; Manufacture / Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a second-degree felony; and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, a third-degree felony. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. This investigation is documented under case number 037178-2026.

Reckless Driver Arrested After Eluding Police Across Redmond; Drone Program Helps Track Vehicle Officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the early morning hours of April 23 after noticing it had no license plates. The driver accelerated well above the posted speed limit and failed to stop, ignoring emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle continued through Redmond, running red lights, making dangerous turns, and driving at high speeds. At one point, the driver returned toward an officer, flashing high beams in an apparent attempt to provoke a pursuit, and drove into oncoming traffic. Due to the reckless behavior and risk to the public, officers did not engage in a pursuit. Multiple drones were deployed remotely from docking locations throughout the city by a single Drone as First Responder (DFR) pilot, allowing officers to maintain continuous visual contact with the vehicle as it drove recklessly across Redmond. With assistance from aerial support, officers tracked the vehicle as it continued driving dangerously through the area, including SR-520 and downtown Redmond. Spike strips were successfully deployed, and the vehicle was later located at an apartment complex. Officers conducted a high-risk stop, and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The individual was arrested for eluding a police vehicle and further investigated for DUI. The driver was under the legal drinking age, and an open alcoholic beverage was found inside the vehicle. The individual was also driving with a suspended license. This type of reckless driving puts everyone at risk. Thank you to assisting units for their coordinated response.

She argued instead of backing up. By the end of the encounter, she was headed to jail facing multiple criminal charges. West Palm Beach Police say the incident began after officers found Sarah Swanson driving the wrong way down a one-way street during an active public protest. Officers repeatedly instructed her to back up because she was blocking traffic and there were pedestrians, including children, nearby. Instead of complying, Swanson argued that she was trying to get home. Officers warned that if she refused to move, she would be removed from the vehicle and arrested. When she continued refusing lawful commands, she was taken into custody. While handcuffed, the encounter escalated. Officers offered to remove the handcuffs so she could perform field sobriety exercises in a less crowded area, but she refused to cooperate. During the confrontation, she a$saulted an officer, resulting in an additional felony charge. After being transported to the police holding facility, Swanson admitted she made a "wrong decision" by driving into the protest. She was ultimately booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of: - DUI (Driving Under the Influence) - Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer - Resisting Arrest Legally, Florida officers may detain and arrest a driver who refuses lawful commands during a traffic stop when public safety is at risk. Intentionally a$saulting or making unlawful physical contact with a law enforcement officer performing official duties can elevate the offense to Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, a felony under Florida law. Whether the DUI and other charges result in conviction is determined later through the court process.

Sometimes the most dangerous situations start with something simple … like expired plates. ‼️ Yesterday just after 10 a.m., one of our traffic officers attempted to stop a driver of a pickup towing a trailer with years-old expired tags on southbound I-225 at East 17th Place. The driver had other ideas. And from there, you’ll see. Lives could have changed in an instant. Despite activating lights and siren, the driver not only refused to stop but also swerved toward our officer on his motorcycle. Thankfully, our officer was able to hit the brakes to avoid a collision, even after a large box flew off the back of the pickup.🚔 The suspect then blew through a red light, trying to evade our traffic officer who continued the pursuit undeterred despite nearly being run over. The suspect drove recklessly through the Fitzsimons Parkway area, at one point making another run at another responding officer while also weaving into oncoming traffic. When he crashed into a fence in the 1900 block of Akron Street, he tried to run. Spoiler alert: running rarely works. Thanks to a detailed description from the original motor officer and alert community members who saw him discarding clothing, officers quickly established a perimeter and located 39-year-old Kyle Secrist. Insolent even in his capture, the suspect had the audacity to ask approaching officers, “What did I do?” Secrist was detained without further incident and arrested for attempted homicide, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, vehicular eluding and motor vehicle theft…did we forget to mention the pickup he was driving AND the trailer were both stolen? The suspect’s criminal history spans 20+ pages and includes dangerous drug offenses, parole violations, assault, burglary, menacing, habitual traffic offender and DUI offenses, and child abuse. Expired plates are fixable. Trying to run over a police officer is not.➡️ Our officers never know when a routine stop will turn into something more. They show up anyway. Officer safety is not just a talking point. It is real. It is unpredictable. And it is a risk our officers accept every day to keep this community safe.
