This is a Commodore 1541 5.25" floppy disk drive. It functions as a computer in its own right, with its own 8-bit CPU, ROM, and operating system (CBM DOS). It is its own computer with its own operating system. The Commodore 64 or 128 or Vic 20 or whatever would talk to it over a serial cable and send commands to the onboard computer. These drives were so robust and overbuilt.

We are so glad that Indians played an important role in the development of that port. It is now somehow slowed down because of the US sanctions. But I am confident that this port would be like a golden gate for India to access Central Asia, the Caucasus and then Europe through this transit route and also for Europeans, Central Asians and others to access the Indian Ocean... I hope that Indians would continue their work in Chabahar port so it would be fully developed at the service of the interests of India and other countries around. I think India, with its good reputation, can play a greater role in this region to help diplomacy and to promote peace and security. India is a friend to all countries in the Persian Gulf... We appreciate any positive constructive role played by India in this region."

🖨️ It took over a year and lots of help from Claude Code but I have now been able to create a real dot matrix printer on the web that prints from Windows 3.11 in your browser: Here's the test page: I couldn't get the LPT1 port to work but COM2 did work (the dial up model already uses COM1), the JS receives the COM2 serial data (just raw print data) and then prints it Next is to make the dot matrix printer better looking (kinda 3d like on pieter dot com) and have the paper also flowing in 3d out of the printer and integrate it on the page My idea was that it might work because we also capture the COM1 data (from the dial up modem) and send it to a Websocket as a dial up connection, so we should be able to capture the COM2 traffic too but I didn't know how, but now I do IT WORKS!! 😊

Has night and winter settings featuring railroad crossings, bridges, road signs, and a storyline with cutscenes. A great achievement for this 8-bit computer, which gave them a 2021 GOTY prize and a 10/10 score at Planet Sinclair.

There is no such thing as (Puntland first.) It should be called Puntland second. Because the elite running it (the Farole family and Said Deni ) have been working overtime to turn Puntland into a vassal state for the separatists in Hargeisa. Look at what happened with Berbera port. Somalis from the Ogaden region, Somalis from the north, and Somalis from central Somalia had boycotted berbera port since 2023. They switched to Bosaso and Garacad ports which located in Puntland state. Berbera port started bleeding money. The UAE, which poured heavy investment into that port, was not happy about the losses. So what did they do? They leaned on Said Deni. He raised the tolls, hiked the taxes, and started shutting Bosaso down for most days of the week. Suddenly Bosaso port became expensive and unreliable. Berbera port by comparison, looked “cheaper.” The result? Average Somali traders got squeezed. Cost of living went up across the north, central Somalia, and the Ogaden region. People are now forced to use a port controlled by the separatists or pay more to use a deliberately crippled Bosaso port. And the hypocrisy does not stop there. Somalis from Puntland are not allowed to travel freely or hold celebrations in Hargeisa and other Somaliland towns. But the separatists? They move around Puntland and celebrate however they want, no problem. This is not leadership. This is serving the separatists agenda while ordinary Somali people pay the price.

“i’ve been told that you've tried spending less time on your phone recently, which i believe is a very hard thing to do. what made you do it? and did it actually work?” 🆑: yeah, i am achieving that. then there's a balance to find, because it's also true that as soon as you are... you kind of feel a little bit disconnected on what's going around because today everybody is with a phone, and so there's a balance to find. i did two or three months, i think, without ever touching my phone apart from whatsapp when i was receiving messages and calls, and that was maybe a little bit extreme. so now maybe i'm trying to find a balance between the two because it's good to be up to date with what's going on around the world and to stay in touch with friends and funny moments. there's also lots of funny moments on social media and it part also of social interaction with friends and family. so there's a balance to find, but it is also true that it's a place where sometimes it can be a little bit toxic when you are in a position where people can kind of judge and say anything very, very easily. and they have the right to do so, but as a human being, you can also be affected by looking at those things. so it's a balance to find. i don't know if i found the perfect one, but for now it works for me, which is the most important.

More Details are at: Being able to model the behaviour of CPU provides a solid base to reason about your code. The summary is - - The CPU is a state machine which maintains it's states in registers. - It has busses to memory for requesting data/instruction read/writes. - Interrupts to attend to events. I discuss this and more in my course on the C Language.

Huang calls AI “the great equalizer.” “In the last 50 years, computers have been a tool for about 10, 20, 30 million people. And the only way to take advantage of this capability is to know how to program it, how to design the computer. For the first time, anybody in the world can program a computer. You could program a computer using human language. So we’ve democratized this computing technology that is so valuable to society and we’ve elevated everyone. And this is one of the reasons why I really encourage everybody to engage artificial intelligence. It bootstraps you, it elevates you, it enables you. You know it’s the great equalizer.”
