This is a Commodore 1541 5.25" floppy disk drive. It functions as a computer in its own right, with its own 8-bit CPU, ROM, and operating system (CBM DOS). It is its own computer with its own operating system. The Commodore 64 or 128 or Vic 20 or whatever would talk to it over a serial cable and send commands to the onboard computer. These drives were so robust and overbuilt.

My 8080 CPU simulation in 74-series logic can now boot CP/M (floppies simulated over a serial line) and run Zork. At a simulated 25KHz instead of 2.5MHz as a real CPU does it takes over 7 minutes to boot and start playing. (Video mostly sped up to 20x)

We are so glad that Indians played an important role in the development of that port. It is now somehow slowed down because of the US sanctions. But I am confident that this port would be like a golden gate for India to access Central Asia, the Caucasus and then Europe through this transit route and also for Europeans, Central Asians and others to access the Indian Ocean... I hope that Indians would continue their work in Chabahar port so it would be fully developed at the service of the interests of India and other countries around. I think India, with its good reputation, can play a greater role in this region to help diplomacy and to promote peace and security. India is a friend to all countries in the Persian Gulf... We appreciate any positive constructive role played by India in this region."

🖨️ It took over a year and lots of help from Claude Code but I have now been able to create a real dot matrix printer on the web that prints from Windows 3.11 in your browser: Here's the test page: I couldn't get the LPT1 port to work but COM2 did work (the dial up model already uses COM1), the JS receives the COM2 serial data (just raw print data) and then prints it Next is to make the dot matrix printer better looking (kinda 3d like on pieter dot com) and have the paper also flowing in 3d out of the printer and integrate it on the page My idea was that it might work because we also capture the COM1 data (from the dial up modem) and send it to a Websocket as a dial up connection, so we should be able to capture the COM2 traffic too but I didn't know how, but now I do IT WORKS!! 😊

“i’ve been told that you've tried spending less time on your phone recently, which i believe is a very hard thing to do. what made you do it? and did it actually work?” 🆑: yeah, i am achieving that. then there's a balance to find, because it's also true that as soon as you are... you kind of feel a little bit disconnected on what's going around because today everybody is with a phone, and so there's a balance to find. i did two or three months, i think, without ever touching my phone apart from whatsapp when i was receiving messages and calls, and that was maybe a little bit extreme. so now maybe i'm trying to find a balance between the two because it's good to be up to date with what's going on around the world and to stay in touch with friends and funny moments. there's also lots of funny moments on social media and it part also of social interaction with friends and family. so there's a balance to find, but it is also true that it's a place where sometimes it can be a little bit toxic when you are in a position where people can kind of judge and say anything very, very easily. and they have the right to do so, but as a human being, you can also be affected by looking at those things. so it's a balance to find. i don't know if i found the perfect one, but for now it works for me, which is the most important.

More Details are at: Being able to model the behaviour of CPU provides a solid base to reason about your code. The summary is - - The CPU is a state machine which maintains it's states in registers. - It has busses to memory for requesting data/instruction read/writes. - Interrupts to attend to events. 🚨Iran’s Chabahar Port VITAL for the global south, India’s🇮🇳 PM Modi may be the ONLY ONE capable of bringing peace to the region ‘The US or Israelis have attacked not only the Bandar Abbas Port, there has been attack on the Kharg island which happens to be quite an important port for energy exports. Now Chabahar Port will definitely play an important role, but there is ambiguity towards that. India was working on developing the Chabahar Port. Given the recent political issues, there has been a slowdown on the development of Chabahar Port. So whether that will be reactivated by India, that needs to be seen. 85% of the exports from that region is catered to the Global South. So it’s not only India that will benefit, the entire Global South will benefit out of this. Iran has been under embargo and sanctions for decades now. India has taken the initiative to develop that port, and they have achieved considerable success in that, and they wanted to move forward on that. However, in the recent past we have seen that there had been a slowdown. We feel that India should relook into activating that port, and to bring sanity, as that could be part of one of the peace talks. As far as BRICS is concerned, BRICS has become a very strong body. The next BRICS meeting is in a couple of months, so they may play a very important role to bring sanity in this region. The Global South should stand up to this and find sanity. There has been talk that the Prime Minister of India is perhaps the only person who can bring peace to this region. The Israelis have said they don’t want to accept Pakistanis as a mediator. So the world may have to go back to India, to Prime Minister Modi. Whether he’ll accept or not accept, that remains to be seen.
