This is what optimal left-side dynamics looks like. 1. Watch Calafiori throughout. He makes all this possible because he can play in the half-space, on the wing, and as the CF. Only profiles like him, Mendes, and Hakimi should be encouraged to play in the halfspace in attack regularly. 2. To manipulate the block, Gyokeres and Calafiori basically revolve around Trossard. The 'control' player (Trossard) has the ball for the longest time, while the 'direct' players (Gyokeres and Calafiori) revolve around him and play the ball quickly. Perfect!

My proposal for principle-based positional play as the basis of future high-possession game models. Attempted to speak through my many thoughts on positional and relational play before landing on a newer framework. Will flesh it out in a written piece in a clearer and less stream of consciousness manner but hope this sparks ideas and conversation. My DMs are always open.
