The largest shepherding community in the southern Jordan Valley, and the last to survive, was home to about 800 people, roughly half of them children. “What we are seeing in Qusrah is happening throughout the West Bank. Israel is ethnically cleansing the West Bank.” says Shai Parnes Shai Parnes, B’Tselem public outreach director, on BBC News (World). Over the past few days, settlers have established an outpost in the yards of two Palestinian homes on the outskirts of Qusrah, near Nablus. Their objective is clear: to force the families out and take over their homes. Last month, the military enabled settlers to force the Tubasi family in Jalud from their homes following a siege and repeated violence. The settlers then took over their homes, as is happening now in many villages across the West Bank, including Ein Sinya, Turmus Ayya, al-Mas’udiyah, Beita, Abu Falah, and many others. Since October 2023, Israel has forcibly displaced 64 entire Palestinian communities and parts of 15 additional communities, comprising more than 4,800 people, including over 2,300 minors. In the West Bank, the forcible transfer has begun. Yesh Din and Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) are publishing a new report today. Over the past two years, our staff and volunteers have visited Palestinian shepherding communities east of the Allon road, northeast of Ramallah, dozens of times. These visits included collecting testimonies, conducting personal interviews, and administering questionnaires. We also held information sessions, rights workshops, and medical training sessions and provided medical services in a mobile clinic. Since January 2023, due to Israeli policies and settler violence, more than 1,000 people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, and approximately 100,000 dunams of land were emptied of the Palestinian residents who had lived there for decades. The key conclusion of our report "Displaced Communities, Forgotten People" is that Israel bears responsibility for committing the war crime of forcible transfer of Palestinians in the West Bank - carried out with its support, by its agents or its citizens. Moreover, the state’s deep involvement, its methods of action, the systematic nature of these acts, and their repetition in different locations lead to the grave conclusion that in certain areas of the West Bank, Israel is implementing practices of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. In 2025, Israeli authorities demolished at least 1267 structures on the pretext of “illegal construction” throughout the West Bank. Israeli planning and building authorities exploit Israel’s control in Area C to prevent Palestinian development and drive communities off their lands, as part of a systematic policy of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. This year, Israel demolished more structures on the pretext of construction without permits than in any year since B’Tselem began documenting these demolitions in 2006. Israel refuses almost all Palestinian requests for building permits, whether for homes, public buildings or infrastructure. As a result, Palestinians are forced to build without permits on their own private land and live under constant threat of demolition, harm to their livelihoods and displacement. Israeli settlers were filmed stealing a donkey belonging to a Palestinian farmer and dragging the injured animal behind a utility vehicle until it was killed in the South Hebron Hills, in the occupied West Bank. The animal is then seen being dragged across the ground before being killed.
