For the umpteenth time — reckless overtakes don't take a second off your journey. Watch the van guy passing me near Tavistock Square.

There is no right turn at the lights so he/she had to go left and loop round. I know things like "no right turn" signs are invisible to many cyclists so you probably didn't spot that. He/she did nothing wrong.

Also, at the point where he passed you THERE WERE NO PARKED CARS! so why hadn't you moved away from the centre line. Oh yeah, because you KNEW he was going to go past you and wanted a video.

It's not up to me to facilitate his safe overtake.

And of course you COULDN'T slow down a fraction and move left into the big empty space so he could accelerate and be clear of you before you reached the next parked car, could you. No, because then you wouldn't have a driver to bitch about.

That's it. You got there.

@thaisilver60 Do you ever look at your replies, and constant ratios, and think "you know what, maybe I'm just being a cunt, and would benefit from rethinking my whole persona..." Perhaps give it a thought. 👍

what was aggressive about that?.....think you need to slow down and use your brakes a bit more - you seem to be nothing but an entitled cyclist

If it was reckless, and it wasn’t. Why cycle in the middle of the road there anyway?

Did you speed the footage up hoping no one would notice the no right turn sign. Com3 on @theJeremyVine you can do better.

Please stop driving. You are clearly unable to read basic road signs.

@DaleskiChapman Jezza, whilst road signs and lights are just street decorations to cyclists, the van is going left, to join the main road to head up it on your 0300, so it’s not breaking the law by making a right turn at the lights. Clear as day in the still posted here.

@theJeremyVine @DaleskiChapman well done for spotting that, how you can think it is a 'gotcha' point is beyond me. The traffic sign plays no part in the close pass, being impatient and passing like this is the issue. If it wasn't this set of lights they had to stop for it would be the next one, zero gain 🤷‍♂️

@theJeremyVine @DaleskiChapman The gotcha point is disproving the silly editing at the end of the video, because even if the lights weren’t red, they’d still have to have gone that way to change direction. Jezza could’ve used his brain and maintained the current position in the road rather than pulling out.

@langoo @DaleskiChapman All drivers have to go left there to turn right. I'm there every day. That's not the point of the video.

What are you talking about? He was in the other lane. If you weren’t right in the middle of the road he would’ve been nowhere near you. But then you wouldn’t have been able to get your footage would you. And that’s what’s important to you. Isn’t it?

Why did you veer towards a van and shout ?

Why don’t you try being a delivery driver for a couple days on shit money which is usually dependent on how many drops they get done in a day

He’s on the other side of the road from you, in a different lane altogether! Why do you “appear” to have an altercation with motorists almost daily? As said before. I cycle about 150 miles a week and could count on my hand the incidents I have! Stop looking for confrontations!

Trying to understand why the overtake was reckless. Is it not allowed on that stretch of road and/or was he speeding? 🤷‍♂️

Jeremy out looking for problems for likes on Twitter - I cycled back in forth to work in the city for years and barely had an issue. You however are out looking for it. Prk

What about all the cyclists that jump the lights in London

AndyDenizen's profile picture

It's amazing how many drivers fail to appreciate that people on bikes absolutely need to keep clear of car door danger zones, but no, it's continual 'bloody cyclist in the middle of the road'' 'I'm not waiting' / dangerous close pass. 🙄🤦‍♂️

Cyclists always very keen on rules when it suits them. Not so bothered when turning left at a red light or weaving through the Greenwich foot tunnel.

Van guy passed you on the other side of the road. Gave you plenty of room. He ended up where he was because there was no right turn on the road you were travelling on. He did nothing wrong.

Personally. My road awareness Is rather high, I’d have moved into that nice big gap to Let him get on his way and not gamble my life in expectance that my entitlement will save me

Wow, so he's on the other side of the road, where's the risky pass? Did you expect him to mount the pavement on the other side? & if the lights had been at green his side he'd have crossed well before you, that's how traffic lights work, which being a cyclist you won't realise
