Much of what matters is happening behind closed doors. Public statements, intelligence leaks, and anonymous assessments rarely tell the full story. What we do know is that the Islamic Republic is under extraordinary military pressure. Israel appears determined to keep that pressure on until the regime can no longer threaten its security. The United States, meanwhile, has been far more cautious about embracing anything resembling regime change, mindful of the legacy of Iraq. What happens next will depend on decisions the public cannot yet see.

A Blizzard… and Not the Dairy Queen Kind ❄️🍦 The forecast says it’s going to get icy and snowy across Kansas and the Midwest this weekend—not a full-on blizzard, but enough to remind us that winter is here. To get my mind right, I swung through Dairy Queen and grabbed a Blizzard. (Because what better way to prepare for cold weather than holding one in your hand, right?) In the video, I highlight some of the items I keep in my patrol car to stay ready for winter weather. Not all of them, though—I didn’t want to make this a 20-minute video. What about you?
