“The UK will deploy our Carrier Strike Group to the North Atlantic and the High North this year, led by HMS Prince of Wales.” But can we even sustain a Carrier Strike Group in the High North, given the proportion of the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force the Indo-Pacific deployment took? HMS Queen Elizabeth has been in dry dock for most of last year and we need a new icebreaker to support/replace HMS Protector. This is a significant commitment and one that indicates, alongside the expanded Commando deployment in the Arctic, that the strategic focus has now shifted. Whilst our security to the north is vital, this is also a helpful respite for Keir Starmer to look strong on NATO. It would not be a surprise if the much delayed Defence Investment Plan now sees the Royal Navy come out as the big winner with regards to investment in capability.

General "Raizin" Caine, details the precision extraction mission in Venezuela: "Over the course of the night, aircraft began launching from 20 different bases on land and sea across the Western Hemisphere. In total, more than 150 aircraft, bombers, fighters, intelligence, reconnaissance, surveillance, rotary wing, were in the air last night. "Our youngest crew member was 20 and our oldest crew member was 49. And there's simply no match for American military might. As the night began, the helicopters took off with the extraction force, which included law enforcement officers, and began their flight into Venezuela at 100 feet above the water. As they approached Venezuelan shores, the United States began layering different effects provided by SPACECOM, CYBERCOM, and other members of the inter-agency to create a pathway. "Overhead, those forces were protected from aircraft- were protected by aircraft from the United States Marines, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force, and the Air National Guard. The force included F-22s, F-35s, F-18s, EA-18s, E-2s, B-1 bombers, and other support aircraft, as well as numerous remotely piloted drones. As the force began to approach Caracas, the joint air component began dismantling and disabling the air defense systems in Venezuela, employing weapons to ensure the safe passage of the helicopters into the target area. "The goal of our air component is, was, and always will be to protect the helicopters and the ground force, and get them to the target, and get them home. As the force crossed the last point of high terrain where they'd been hiding in the clutter, we assessed that we had maintained totally the element of surprise. As the helicopter force ingressed towards the objective at low level, we arrived at Maduro's compound at 1:01 AM Eastern Standard Time, or 2:01 AM Caracas local time, and the apprehension force descended into Maduro's compound and moved with speed, precision, and discipline towards their objective, and isolated the area to ensure the safety and security of the ground force while apprehending the indicted persons. "On arrival into the target area, the helicopters came under fire and they replied with that fire with overwhelming force in self-defense. One of our aircraft was hit, but remained flyable, and as the President said earlier today, all of our aircraft came home. And that aircraft remained flyable during the rest of the mission. As the operation unfolded at the compound, our air and ground intelligence teams provided real-time updates to the ground force, ensuring those forces could safely navigate the complex environment without unnecessary risk. "The force remained protected by overhead tactical aviation. Maduro and his wife, both indicted, gave up and were taken into custody by the Department of Justice, assisted by our incredible US military with professionalism and precision, with, with no loss of US life. After securing the indicted persons, the force began to prep for departure."

Broad daylight shootings and killings within the center of the city 5. Dollar keeps dancing up and down as prices of goods continue to rise 6. Business owners continue to struggle in accessing dollars for their trade 7. Fuel prices racing back up as if there’s a chase 8. 35,000 Ghanaians dismissed from employment since January 7th 9. 1-3-3 shift jobs on ice 10. No clear blueprint or strategy from this NDC government in dealing with the challenges of the nation And yet, this government has occupied themselves with raiding homes of the opposition party members like armed robbers all in the quest to silent and suppress their voices. Knowing very well this is 2025. You can’t suppress voices. M We plead with this government to focus on the core job. Pick their manifesto and simply implement the promises therein. Time no dey like that!

There was an operation launched by STF (Special Task Force) Assam, in July...Once questioning and inquiries took place it was very apparent that this is a matter which is a national security concern and has interstate ramifications. From day one the matter has been looked at and guided by our Chief Minister and the highest formations of the land were wise to decide that the case be sent to NIA and the Government of Assam requested the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to transfer one of these cases to the NIA. The NIA took up the case and began an investigation. There's been a collaborative effort of the NIA with us and in this collaborative effort, we were able to put together a list of touts from across the country. Today morning in the wee hours an operation was launched across many states by the NIA with the Assam Police and a total of 47 such touts and middlemen who were running this racket have been caught. 25 from Tripura, 5 from Assam, 3 from West Bengal, 9 from Karnataka, 1 from Haryana, 1 from Telangana and 3 from Tamil Nadu..."

On the Bulabulin Forest axis, troops of Sector 2 in conjunction with elements of Sector 2 Stabilisation Force Brigade and the Civilian Joint Task Force cleared terrorist enclaves at Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti and Yaro Shuwari as well as other areas contiguous to the Bulabulin Forest and the Kamadogu Yobe stretch. During the operation, supported by assault air platforms from the Air Component Command, the troops made contact at Malam Shiri Village and engaged the terrorists in a well-coordinated and tactical flanking manoeuvre, neutralising 11 terrorists and forcing others to flee with varying degrees of injuries. Today, in a joint operation with the Kenya Wildlife Service, we translocated this bull to safer territory. He had become a notorious fence-breaker, raiding community land, destroying crops, and presenting a danger to the people who live there. When all other efforts to move him failed, it was time to mobilise a full translocation. From helicopter pilots to crane truck operators, rangers and vets, this was a big operation that required all hands on deck. But in such a high-pressure case, it is the only way to prevent further conflict and possible loss of life. Dr Limo of the SWT/KWS Tsavo Mobile Vet Unit walks us through the translocation. After the bull was located, Dr Limo darted him from the air and our ground teams moved in. Our titanic passenger was loaded onto the low-loader, securely strapped in, and then given a full escort down the Mombasa Highway and deep into the Tsavo ecosystem.
