TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI DEFEAT MULTIPLE TERRORIST ATTACKS, DELIVER FOLLOW-ON PRECISION STRIKES, RESCUE CIVILIANS Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), on 22 April 2026, successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks at Kanama, Ngoshe, and Banki across the Theatre. The attacks, which occurred at various times during the day, were decisively defeated through the vigilant response of troops and effective fire control, with no adverse reports recorded. The failed assaults further underscore the sustained combat readiness of OPHK troops and their dominance in denying terrorists freedom of action. In continuation of offensive operations, OPHK conducted follow-on precision air interdiction missions, including a strike at about 0315 hours on 22 April 2026 at Sowolowolo in the Sambisa Forest axis. The strike, executed after target confirmation, destroyed the remaining terrorist gun trucks in the area, bringing the total number of neutralised platforms to three. Additionally, another precision strike at Kaniram in the Mallam Fatori axis targeted terrorists observed conducting burial activities following earlier OPHK strikes, resulting in the neutralisation of scores of fleeing and regrouping elements. Further demonstrating operational effectiveness, troops of Sector 1, under 26 Brigade, conducted search and rescue operations towards the Mandara Mountains, successfully rescuing 15 women and children earlier abducted by terrorists. In a desperate but ineffective response, JAS elements fired projectiles into Gwoza, causing no casualties or damage. These coordinated successes highlight OPHK’s sustained offensive pressure, effective air–land integration, and commitment to protecting civilians while dismantling terrorist capabilities. Troops will continue to maintain relentless operations to dominate the battlespace and ensure terrorists are decisively defeated across the Joint Operations Area. Military High Command commends troops for their gallantry and resilience while urging them to sustain the operational tempo. OPERATION HADIN KAI DELIVERS ANOTHER DECISIVE BLOW TO ISWAP TERRORISTS The Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI has once again demonstrated its operational dominance and combat readiness by successfully defeating ISWAP attack and launching a devastating counter-offensive against the terrorists in the Buratai axis. In the early hours of 19 June 2026, ISWAP terrorists launched multiple attacks on troops' locations at Dusten Kura and Chara road in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. The alert troops, supported by robust intelligence, promptly detected the incursion and responded with superior firepower in a well-coordinated air and ground counter-attack. The prompt and effective employment of the Air Component of OPHK, particularly Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance as well as precision strike platforms from the Nigerian Air force, proved decisive. The precision air support integrated seamlessly with ground forces, disrupted the terrorists' assault and inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers, forcing them to flee in confusion. It is worthy to note that no casualties were recorded on own troops, while the terrorists suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment. This latest success underscores the high state of readiness of OPHK troops and the synergy between the ground and air components in maintaining relentless pressure on the terrorists. The Theatre Command remains committed to denying insurgents freedom of action and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens across the North East theatre. MILITARY DESTROYS ISWAP WATERWAY LOGISTICS NETWORK IN DEVASTATING PRECISION STRIKES, NEUTRALISES SCORES IN LAKE CHAD Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in sustained offensive operations conducted in the night of 21/22 April 2026, delivered devastating precision air strikes that dismantled ISWAP terrorist logistics networks along the Lake Chad waterways around the Kaniram Island axis in Northern Borno State. Acting on credible Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) inputs, OPHK air assets established persistent overhead presence and confirmed the concentration of over 30 terrorist boats and associated terrorist elements coordinating movement and resupply activities. Target validation and positive identification were carefully achieved, ensuring high targeting fidelity prior to engagement. Following deliberate confirmation in line with Rules of Engagement, OPHK executed well-coordinated precision strikes that destroyed several boats and disrupted the terrorists’ logistics hub. This immediately degraded their mobility and ability to sustain operations. Real-time ISR enabled rapid follow-on strikes on fleeing and regrouping elements within nearby vegetation, leading to the neutralisation of over 30 terrorists. Surviving elements were observed escaping in disarray, reflecting a breakdown in their cohesion and command structure. In a related engagement at Sowolwolo in the Sambisa Forest axis, additional precision guided strikes was conducted following target fidelity acquisition with Partners. The strike took out 3 terrorist Gun trucks and neutralised more terrorists within the vicinity. Battle Damage Assessment (BDA), supported by post-strike intelligence, confirmed significant enemy losses, with evidence of mass burial activities especially by ISWAP elements in the Mallam Fatori axis further underscoring the scale of attrition inflicted. Ground forces are currently exploiting the effects of these strikes to dominate adjoining areas and prevent any reconstitution by fleeing elements. These operations highlight OPHK’s sustained offensive pressure and effective air–land integration in dismantling terrorist networks, degrading their capabilities, and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area. The Military High Command commends troops for the impressive battle performance and urged them to sustain aggressive operations to dominate the battlespace. OPHK will continue to maintain relentless pressure on all terrorist elements until they are decisively defeated. SANI UBA Lieutenant Colonel Media Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force. At about 3:45 p.m on 31 July 2026, troops of 135 Special Forces Battalion, Dutsen Kura, detected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists through real-time surveillance systems as they intercepted four civilian vehicles and abducted their occupants. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the Battalion deployed a Quick Response Force in pursuit of the terrorists as they fled towards the Mangari–Dora general area. The troops made contact with the insurgents and engaged them with effective fire, compelling the terrorists to abandon the abducted civilians and the four civilian vehicles before fleeing into the surrounding bush in disarray. During the operation, troops also recovered motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. All 31 abducted civilians were rescued unharmed, while the four civilian vehicles were recovered intact. Following the successful rescue, troops dominated the general area and conducted further exploitation to deny the terrorists any opportunity to regroup. No further contact was made during the operation. The rescued civilians and recovered vehicles were subsequently escorted to Buratai, where the victims regained possession of their vehicles and continued their journey safely. TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI RESCUE 92 KIDNAPPED CIVILIANS, FOIL IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE, AMBUSH , IN SWIFT BURATAI RESCUE OPERATION Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have demonstrated their unrelenting commitment to the protection of civilians, executing a swift and decisive rescue operation that freed 92 kidnapped victims from BH/ISWAP terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya road, Biu Local Government Area, Borno State, on Saturday 23 May 2026. At approximately 1122 hours, alert troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion deployed at Dutse Kura detected BH/ISWAP terrorists forcibly herding civilians and vehicles off the road and into the surrounding bush using their surveillance system. The unit’s Quick Reaction Force was immediately mobilised, while reinforcement troops from 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison were simultaneously activated to join the rescue. Converging on the terrorists in a well-coordinated pursuit towards the Mangari-Dora general area, OPHK troops engaged the insurgents and forced them to abandon their captives and flee in confusion. All 92 kidnapped victims, comprising 52 males, 33 females and 7 children, along with 8 vehicles, were successfully recovered. In a desperate bid to delay the advancing troops, the fleeing terrorists covertly emplaced three IEDs along the Bula Zarma, Mangari general area in a calculated ambush attempt. The plot failed completely. The unit’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded with precision and successfully detonated all three devices, clearing the route and enabling troops to press the pursuit approximately five kilometres beyond the Mangari general area. Subsequent search operations were conducted across the area, but the terrorists having abandoned their captives, their vehicles and their tactical objectives had scattered in complete disarray. OPHK troops sustained zero personnel or equipment casualties throughout the operation. The rescued civilians were consolidated, provided immediate welfare support and escorted by troops all the way to Damaturu, where they were released to continue their journey. This operation once again affirms the operational reach, surveillance capability and combat readiness of OPHK and serves as an unambiguous message that any attempt by terrorists to harm, kidnap or intimidate civilians will be met with swift and overwhelming force across the entirety of the North East Theatre.
