In the 5-6 years before I came back, Intel gave $100 billion to shareholders (in dividends and buybacks). What I wouldn't have done for another $100 billion. There's just all of these things that you would only do as a technologist because the economics behind them by themselves were not good. I do believe that things are going to get better and better. Think of it more like a snowball picking up steam going down a hill. But the reason that it's snowballing like this is because people are putting money, and resources, and engineering time, and engineering effort in as they explore everything and start to figure all of this stuff out. Humans, for example, we've evolved to learn. We are very good at learning, and it takes very little data to show us how to do something, and then we practice and practice, iterate. Robots are not very good at learning yet. Robots take so much more data and so many more examples than a person. We're still figuring out how to teach robots how to learn. But one of the benefits that robots have in the long run is they have Wi-Fi. When you learn how to play the violin, you can't just load that to somebody else and then they know how to play the violin based on your learnings. Robots will be able to do that. @jason: “One robot learns to play violin, all robots know how to play a violin.” Jonathan Hurst: “Or all robots of that type know how to play the violin, right? Gavin Newsom’s Presidential Chances are Plummeting. Nate Silver Explains Why: “Newsom has fallen in Democratic primary polls from around 25% to 15%. He's fallen on Polymarket from like 33% to 22%.” Newsom’s biggest problems: -- His early lead was based on name brand, which has eroded -- Disastrous governance record in California -- Aligning with Biden and continuity with the unpopular "Resistance Libs" -- Dem voters now favor younger, more compelling candidates (AOC, Ossoff) Nate Silver: “I think he was benefiting from some degree of name recognition, whereas now Democrats see a candidate like Jon Ossoff in Georgia, another good-looking young guy, but who actually has credentials which Newsom will never have, having won an election in a purple state. I think it's good that Democrats are showing a bias toward younger candidates, right? That's a lot of what happened with Zohran, too. I wouldn't discount, by the way, someone like an AOC (as the 2028 nominee). I think ultimately Newsom has a hard argument to make. He's arguing for continuity with Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. He's embracing Joe Biden when that strategy has failed electorally. I would argue in California governance-wise as well. This is incredible: Dominic Cummings (the former Chief Adviser to the British Prime Minister) calling the current Western policy on Taiwan "completely insane" and "'f*cking stupid". Exceedingly rare to see former senior officials abandon political correctness to this extent, and tell the raw, unvarnished truth. Actually pretty refreshing!
