Airbus & Frankenburg: Mark I missile engages kamikaze drone in first airborne intercept Frankenburg’s Mark I guided interceptor missile has been successfully integrated for air-to-air launch with Airbus Defence Bird of Prey uncrewed interceptor drone. In a live demonstration, the Bird of Prey autonomously detected and engaged a one-way attack drone using a Mark I missile. This marks the first time a low-cost, mass-manufacturable guided interceptor missile has been deployed from a reusable airborne platform in this way. The integration was completed in just 9 months. This is a defining step for modern air defence: making large-scale interception economically viable. 1) Multiple air-to-air engagements from a single reusable interceptor drone 2) Up to 8 missiles per drone, each weighing less than 2 kg 3) Order-of-magnitude reduction in cost per intercept Full statement: #WinTech

Our first meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the format of a strategic dialogue. Today, we signed the Ukraine-UK Enhanced Security and Defence Industrial Collaboration Declaration. This is an important step to strengthen our defence. I informed the Prime Minister about the situation on the frontline, Russian attacks, and our needs to protect lives. We discussed the development of joint defence production and strengthening Ukraine’s air defence with additional missiles for air defence systems. Of course, we also touched on the situation in the Middle East. I thank the United Kingdom and personally Keir Starmer for the support. We in Ukraine sincerely appreciate it.

Frankenburg Mark I missile in a short-range air-defence engagement against a Shahed-type target The video shows the Mark I missile in a live-fire test, demonstrating: - Launch of a moving fixed-wing Class III target drone (200 km/h) - Target detection and tracking by an external sensor and C2 system - Mark I missile launch from a tripod system - Terminal guidance at high sub-sonic interceptor speed (exceeding 1,000 km/h) - Proximity-based warhead initiation and in-air target defeat - Controlled descent of target debris for range safety Missiles matter in defence for one simple reason: speed. Mark I uses a solid-fuel rocket motor to generate missile-class closing speed, enabling intercepts at short-range (<2 km). The system is intended to engage low- and slow-flying one-way attack drones with propellers (150–200 km/h), as well as faster targets using jet engines (450–600 km/h), including swarm-type systems. Mark I is the world’s smallest and lowest-cost guided missile, built from commercially available components and engineered for localised, sovereign mass production by Frankenburg Technologies. #Wintech

Ukraine needs around 2,000 anti-ballistic missiles for the Patriot system per year - European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius. During the first 5 days of the Iran war, American troops and the Gulf country troops used around 800 Patriot missiles, nearly half of what Ukraine needs in a year. "We need to boost production of anti-ballistic missiles in Europe. And we need to look into the development of new systems. It will take time. I cannot promise you miracles will happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. But we understand the problem. We have some instruments which we can use," Andrius Kubilius said. Ukraine discussed the possibility of developing new anti-ballistic systems with European countries.

#ISPR General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), witnessed firing of different Air Defence weapon systems during Exercise Al-Bayza-III, 2024 at Sonmiani. COAS viewed integrated fire and battle maneuvers of Army Air Defence systems which includes High to Medium Air Defence Weapons System (HIMADS), Low to Medium Air Defence System (LOMAD), Short Range Air Defence system (SHORADs) and Extended Short Range Air Defence system (ESHORADs). In a landmark achievement and milestone in enhancing the Air Defence of the aerial frontiers of Pakistan, HIMAD system in maiden fire was able to successfully engage the target at maximum ranges along with other layered weapon systems which were tested during the exercise. COAS highly appreciated the remarkable achievement of engaging targets with precision and operational readiness of Corps of Army Air Defence. While interacting with the officers and troops, COAS highlighted that Armed Forces of Pakistan are modernising their systems in line with our requirements to deter and be able to respond to any threat emanating against Pakistan. Corps Commander Karachi, Commander Army Air Defence, Inspector General Training & Evaluation and Inspector General Arms also witnessed the exercise. Earlier, COAS visited Army Air Defence Center. It shows the maturing of our indigenous missile design and production system. It is effective in dealing with high-velocity aerial targets. The first customer was Armenia, which has taken multiple batteries. Thereafter, we've also exported it to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Production has stabilised. We have additional orders for our own services, and I'm sure there will be many more from various parts of the world, including some of the areas that you mentioned"
