And we know that we have maybe 150, maybe more, Canadians in custody at ICE detention centers without the rule of law. Well, we had two Canadians under Chinese custody and it caused a huge outcry. We now have over 150 in the United States. So when the prime minister is talking about us needing to rethink our trade relationships and our strategic relationships, the fact that we’re now willing to entertain relations with the authoritarian government in Beijing shows that we can no longer maintain those relationships with the United States.

Chinese think tank analyst Victor Gao, in an interview with Channel 4 News, said that China is fully prepared to fight to the very end "because the world is big enough that the United States is not the totality of the market in the world."
