NHTSA now sees things my way! The truth has finally prevailed. Tesla has one of the safest automated driving platforms on the market. NHTSA found Tesla is saving lives with its heroic effort to develop software that can be used anywhere and everywhere. NHTSA found the driver monitoring system fails to detect when people are drunk or otherwise impaired and that it has difficulties detecting when people are purposefully abusing the system. And drum roll please, wait for it… NHTSA found it stops for stop lights and stop signs and that it is learning and improving over time to provide even better safety! Crazy!! Mark my words. Human driving days are numbered.

Tesla giving FSD 14.3.3 driving modes names like “Sloth” and “Mad Max” is hilarious until you actually watch the difference. Choose from Sloth, Chill, Standard, Hurry, and Mad Max modes. And yes, Mad Max drives exactly how the name sounds: confident lane changes, aggressive merging, faster traffic flow, and decisive movement through busy streets. Older FSD versions sometimes drove like a nervous student seeing traffic for the first time. Mad Max feels like FSD drank espresso and finally trusts itself. The weird part? About 4.5 billion of those miles were on city streets. The pace is speeding up fast. The fleet now adds around 30 million miles a day, up from 14 million a day at the start of the year. Each new billion is arriving quicker than the last. Why this number matters. Elon Musk has said Tesla needs roughly 10 billion miles of real driving data to make self-driving safe enough to run unsupervised. The fleet is now well past that and the data trains the system to handle rare, tricky situations. Tesla's own safety report says cars on FSD have one major crash every 5.3 million miles, versus one every 660,000 for the average US driver. FSD is still a supervised system. Watch this: I’m cruising in the right lane at ~45 mph when the green station wagon on my left suddenly drifts over, cutting sharply into my lane and toward the shoulder. FSD spots the intrusion instantly, smoothly steers right to create maximum safe distance, and progressively slows us down while keeping everything controlled. This is exactly why FSD’s multi-camera 360° vision is such a game-changer. It sees threats from every angle faster and more reliably than a human driver possibly could, especially in these split-second “what the heck is this guy doing?” moments. Just lost ALL Autopilot, FSD, even basic cruise control and Tesla Technical Assistance says they can’t do anything and apparently my car needs to go to a service center for a software update even though there are no warnings on the car. I got an FSD strike and the whole system went down. They said they can’t turn FSD back on and forgive the strikes remotely even though they did just that in January 2025 for the California fires. When I drove from Nevada into California back then my 4 strikes disappeared. Even the Tesla Technical Assistance Supervisor (who was very nice) says they have no way to fix the car remotely and it must go to a service center. Unfortunately, now I need to drive over 1000 miles with no type of cruise control or driver assistance at all. There are no warning lights on or anything of the sort. I even did a forced software update via the service mode and my Starlink, plus a few hard and soft reboots and that still did not fix it. Sadly the car is now less safe than it was a few minutes ago. There are some small differences in UI between Tesla FSD V14 Lite and HW4 V14. • Starting Self-Driving requires brake to confirm. It’s on by default. • There is no FSD intervention survey, just a voice message. • No Self-Driving stats (hope that can be added in the future). • Arrival options do not appear when approaching the destination. • It does not say “Driving to Whole Foods” when FSD is activated (I hope that’s added in the future as well). Keep in mind, this is a legacy Model Y with an Intel chip. All in all, V14 delivers on the main features from HW4 FSD. It parks in your driveway, in parking lots, at Superchargers, etc. It’s been really incredible. A night-and-day difference compared to V12.

NHTSA says Cybercab has no permanently attached steering wheel, brake pedal, accelerator pedal or mirrors. It will review how Tesla certified the vehicle and why Tesla determined that some federal safety standards did not apply. NHTSA is auditing a car because it has no controls for a human driver. But that is the entire point: Cybercab was designed from day one to drive itself. • Tesla Robotaxis have driven one million miles without a human driver. • The first 380,000 driverless miles had no notable safety incidents. • Tesla reported three incidents in NHTSA’s latest data. In all three, another vehicle hit a stopped Tesla Robotaxi. In these incidents, the problem was human error, not the autonomous Tesla. That is exactly what Cybercab is designed to remove from our roads.
