This Chinese vlogger is both Tesla and XPeng owner. He is an avid tester of Tesla FSD and Xpeng NGP. He points out NGP almost always comes to an abrupt halt when humans or mopeds get real close or cross intersections as evidenced in this clip, even though there is ample time to gradually slow down, making driving extremely uncomfortable. This is not an isolated case. It exists with other XPeng owners. On the other hand, the owner says FSD is very reassuring and predictable. Other systems may have a fewer takeover rates than FSD for now but he still prefers FSD because of its driving comfort, smoothness and confidence.

PC AUTO, a known Chinese auto publication, recently reviewed intelligent driving systems from eight major brands: Huawei, BYD, XPeng, Zeekr, LI, Xiaomi, NIO and Tesla. In 2 scenarios where a tree is in the way, FSD is the only system that successfully drove around to stay the course. Every other system failed to proceed. For context, FSD is the only system that doesn’t use lidars. Looks like vision-based approach is superior and can solve edge cases which lidars may not.

On one hand, the Chinese military openly declares there is “no upper limit”to military cooperation with Russia. On the other hand, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs insists there is no military cooperation at all*between the PLA and the Russian Armed Forces. So… is this “One Country, Two Systems” in action, or did someone forget to forward the memo on WeChat?

A member in our chat group shared his initial experience with FSD. He just downloaded v13.2.6 after returning back to Shenzhen, China before he took several test drives with FSD engaged and accumulated over 100 km FSD mileage. He is so impressed by the flawless zero-disengagement or zero-intervention drives. He invited his friend, an Xpeng X9 owner, to test it as well. The friend uses XPeng’s latest NGP autonomous driving system all the time. Obviously he is a very savvy ADAS observer in China. After the test drive, his verdict is: FSD is “invincible”. The foundational capabilities of FSD are far better than those of other systems in China. Let that sink in.

For those that don’t understand how bad the ICE mass deportation protests are getting in Phoenix, Arizona: Police are now being forced to use chemical agents and other weapons against protestors to defend themselves “If you do not disperse, you'll be subject to arrest or police action. Other police action could include the use of chemical agents or less of weapon. — Which may inflict pain or result in serious injury. Please leave this area immediately.” They are forced to release a chemical agent. This is getting violent, someone is paying for these huge protests

It's a useful feature on match days to reduce human congestion in a single place. Melbourne and Sydney had the same systems last year for the test matches. I see other metro cities like Bengaluru/Ahmedabad actually not bother much with this as people queue up to buy tickets and then pay for their trains.

for Levin, memory, learning, expectation, following / choosing goals are not unique to biology - they happen in software, in simple chemical systems, and more but we almost always look for these traits in systems that we recognize as "alive" in a biological sense on the one hand, this grants some potential optimism that non-biological intelligences (AGI) could exhibit the most valuable kinds of traits and qualities that we see in living systems but it also implies that we might not know how to encourage or conjure those traits (consciousness, the ability to set / update goals autonomously, self-creation) in AGI if we remain blind to the full range of HOW intelligence / agency manifests in the world
