Two Chinese automotive influencers share their testing of FSD v14.3.4 in Los Angeles. Before coming to the U.S., they believed Chinese autonomous driving systems such as Huawei ADS, XPeng VLA, and Li Auto ADAS were the world’s best. After spending several days extensively testing Tesla’s FSD, they changed their minds, acknowledging that Chinese systems still have room for improvement before catching up with FSD. At this point, it’s very clear that FSD is the benchmark for every autonomous system in China.

Chinese influencer Li Chi flew from China to California for the sole purpose of experiencing Tesla FSD firsthand. Here are his impressions: “Flew 25,000 km — half the globe — just to personally experience Tesla’s smart driving and compare it with Huawei’s smart driving. I’ll skip the detailed process and go straight to the conclusion: Under normal weather and road conditions, Tesla’s vision-based routing is first-class. (I didn’t get a chance to test in foggy conditions.) In certain scenarios, Tesla outperforms Huawei. For example, when activating smart driving, Tesla can reverse to avoid a vehicle parked on the left, then go around it and rejoin the road ahead — quite impressive. Route selection capability is also top-tier. It doesn’t just follow conventional routes but can take shortcuts through residential roads. Acceleration is crisp and decisive, without hesitation… In short, Tesla FSD is improving very quickly. Physically removing the steering wheel would already present no real obstacles. I hope China will soon allow Tesla FSD to operate domestically, enabling earlier adoption of L3 and encouraging competition with local manufacturers.”

In this 2015 interview, the host — a Tsinghua University professor — expressed genuine curiosity about how Elon Musk was able to found SpaceX without prior experience and knowledge in aerospace, especially given that rocket science is one of the most demanding hard sciences — and that Musk was serving as both CEO and CTO. Musk explained that deep expertise can be built outside formal academic programs — by reading extensively, conducting experiments, and speaking directly with experts in the field.

80% of Covid patients put on ventilators died. This is probably most shocking revelation unknown to the public.

Judge Kathleen McCormick is the perfect example of our legal system rotting from within as she was seen publicly rooting for and supporting the plaintiff against Elon Musk on social media. Where is the impartiality expected of the bench? Such conduct undermines public trust and she needs to be removed for that reason.

How is Tesla Diner doing five months later after opening in July? It’s 1:30pm today and it’s packed inside. There is constant flow of floor traffic with people coming and going. People came after us had to wait for seats to be available. This is my 5th time to be here. My favorite is still Fried Chicken and Waffle Sandwich.

FSD in action in Beijing & being live streamed. Testers initial impression: more human like, smooth and confident compared to other similar Chinese systems. Also capable of self correcting if missing turns or planned route where other systems may be hesitant.

This video recently went viral in China. This blogger was skeptical of all those EVs achieving extremely low drag coefficients including a few “record-breaking” numbers. He wanted to see if his Huawei-branded Avitr really has a drag coefficient of 0.21 as advertised. He took his Avitr to get wind tunnel test and the tested Cd is 0.2818 at 120km/h, 30% more inflated than the claimed number. Now what about officially claimed Cd of 0.195 for BYD U7, 0.199 for Geely E8, 0.195 for Xiaomi SU7, etc? In comparison, Model S has a drag coefficient of 0.208.

This Chinese driver owns both a Tesla vehicle with FSD and Huawei AITO M9 with ADS. He prefers FSD over ADS for his daily driving. FSD can be activated anywhere he wants. ADS can only be activated in pre-mapped areas (not high-definition maps) and it’s still rule-based solution on BEV+transformer architecture. FSD is fundamentally better.

PC AUTO, a known Chinese auto publication, recently reviewed intelligent driving systems from eight major brands: Huawei, BYD, XPeng, Zeekr, LI, Xiaomi, NIO and Tesla. In 2 scenarios where a tree is in the way, FSD is the only system that successfully drove around to stay the course. Every other system failed to proceed. For context, FSD is the only system that doesn’t use lidars. Looks like vision-based approach is superior and can solve edge cases which lidars may not.
