Control Panel → Power Options → "Choose what the power buttons do" → "Change settings that are currently unavailable" → uncheck "Turn on fast startup" → Save changes.

Thanx bro, i almost forgot

"[ → "Shutdown" in Windows (10/11) is actually a hybrid state that saves the kernel to disk for faster booting, whereas a "Full Shutdown" completely cuts power, clears RAM, and resets system processes. → Full shutdown, achieved by holding Shift while clicking shutdown, is better for troubleshooting, clearing bugs, and ensuring updates apply. ]"

I...don't shut down my computer at all.

😂 can't even shutdown

Or disable this and turn off the PC normaly.

this is ONE reason why I unplug my Ethernet cord from the back of my computer, because hackers, or nefarious individuals like the deep state, can access your computer via wifi/internet, hence why a lot of people who are computer savvy, use hard wired internet methods, as well as reduced latency, but the latter is another concern. .

Old school shutdown process

The amount of times I have had this conversation with co-workers when they say that their computer is really slow, and their exact response is always “but I turn it off everyday” and it’s always 100+ days of uptime.

If I had a penny for everyone I've told about fast startup I'd have enough to buy a chocolate bar

how to shut down you PC very thoroughly: pull the plug once it's shut down.

You all need shutdown ?

I never shut down my PC or laptop. I just put it to sleep so I can continue my work later.

Why is naked spiderman spending time trying to figure out how to shut down he computer. Shouldn't he be fighting crime?

I always shutdown my PC by unplugging the cort because I've discovered that it eats 5 watts of power doing nothing.

I shut it down, then flip the off switch in the back and unplug the cat cable when not using the computer. I also unplug the router when I'm not using it. Hehe When I go offline, I go freaking off line.

disconnect the power cord also works

Ok I understand 👍

what you should do

Doesn't happen on my Win 11 PC. Up time is shown from when I switched it on. Perhaps because it's a dual booting system and loads GRUB upon being powered on, overriding Winslop.

What's the point of that? Why doesn't it fully shut down by itself?

there's a reason it's supposed not to shutdown completely

My uptime its a few days 🤣

Does it apply to laptops too?

My laptop shuts down fine without this nonsense and up time starts from 0 again

@grok Is this true

Hey!

Linux don't have this problem. It boot so fast I don't even sleep my computer.

To fully shut down your PC: click the Start menu → select “Power” → choose “Shut down.” This closes all programs, powers off the operating system, and stops electricity to the machine safely, unlike sleep or restart modes.

I HIGHLY recommend leaving your Windows computers on overnight. It allows Windows to perform updates and virus scans during off times, so they don't disturb actual use times. It relieves a lot of annoyances.

I never shut down my computer unless I'm going on a vacation or something. There's no point on shutting for a few hours only to turn it on again.

Yes it is, because who uses Windows on personal devices in 2026?

Only on Windows. Linux doesn't have this problem.

But then how will Israel remotely access your PC?
