Roger Ebert gave a negative review of Mel Brooks's "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" (1995). One day, when Mel Brooks ran into Ebert, he said, "Listen, you, I made 21 movies. I’m very talented. I’ll live in history. I have a body of work. You only have a body.” Roger Ebert was saddened by the encounter as he was a big supporter of Mel Brooks' works from his debut. Ebert later wrote, "I was surprised he didn’t realize himself that 'Dracula: Dead and Loving It' (1995) just didn’t work. Yes, Brooks has put together a body of work and yes, a lot of it has made me laugh, but I would not be doing him a favor if I did not tell the truth."

On this day, 39 years ago, Richard Donner's "Lethal Weapon" (1987) was released in the USA & Canada. Roger Ebert played a huge role in the film's success. When he and Gene Siskel reviewed it on their TV show, Ebert raved about it, said the film "thrilled me from beginning to end" and said it was both a great action film and a well-written drama. He later gave it 4 stars in a written review as well. Fans who had not been that aware of the film (which was released to limited fanfare and ad space in the doldrums of the Spring 1987 release period) went to see it after Ebert's rave and soon widely agreed with him on its quality. After watching "The Truman Show" (1998), Ebert not only gave a thumbs up, but admitted that he didn't get much of what Carrey was doing at the beginning of his career, but over the course of 4 years he understood and started to appreciate his performances. Ebert & Siskel aired an entire episode for him. Ebert interviewed Jim Carrey before the said episode. mingi's birthday md this year is a lip balm! he said this year, he was able to release his first collection as a designer, and his vinyl LP. he had a lot of different activities this year. there were a lot of we things we (the fans) kindly bought and so many things he's grateful for. so for the md, he wanted it to be something we can use well and comfortably without feeling burdened/pressured. he was at home one day and was putting on lip balm and suddenly thought "ah, this is it." the mingtteok topper is removable and can be used as a keyring on its own and it doesn't come off easily (so the lip balm is secure ~). also, he made the lip balm case pink because he gets called 'princess' a lot <3
