Generally speaking, given both combatants having equal skill a spear will beat a sword most of the time Spears have greater reach allowing for faster strikes and defense The sword wielder must be able to bypass the spear and close to gain advantage

I have literally fought this fight in training and competition at least a couple of hundred times. What you're seeing is someone using a padded pole as a spear a pole that is notably more flexible than it needs to be, which affects the spearmans capability. You're also seeing neither opponent grapple, which is a key technique in this particular pair up. Lee rightly sites that the swordsman needs to close ground on the spearman. I spent a good while talking about how to get past that spear tip, but the end goal is to do so with such timing that either the spearman cannot defend the coming attack or The swordsman uses their offhand to grapple spear shaft and close on his opponent. I don't know what these guys are training and whether it's HEMA SCA or whatever, but they are foregoing that set of options. Skill is actually Paramount here. The manipulation of timing, rhythm, and distance are the master level techniques of all combat.

A spear held two-handed is very good against a sword on its own but sword & shield is a bit better than spear & shield.

Neither person acted like the spear was a real weapon.

Actually the sword equals out when a sword and shield is involved. The shield allows the sword user to break the ground between them.

the sword wielder needs to draw out a thrust or lunge, parry with his own blade, to close the space. Once the swordsman is between the tip of the spear and the halberdier, probably via a swift strong parry, the fight is literally over.

Skills matters yes. A skill full spear wielder can also slide that spear back swiftly and defend in close too Skill > weapon
