Genuinely curious: why do so many jacked gym bros prefer single-arm pulldowns over the standard two-arm version?

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh I'll throw one unilateral into my day just to make sure that I'm hitting both equally and one side isnt taking over on bilateral.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Waste of time and energy. There are no advantages to doing unilateral over bilateral.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh IMO, the single arm pull-down Makes you targets you lat primarily

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Strengthen the non dominant side to the same level as the dominant. When you’re using both arms the stronger one can screw your posture up with heavy lifts and cause you to create a bad habit to make the lift. Which can cause problems later.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Illusion of symmetry while working asymmetrically

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh If one side is weaker or because of asymmetry... if you dont, the strong side will always lead the weak side even if you try not to

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh For some reason I am able to do a more controlled & heavier weight doing it single arm.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh If you do not have a support to keep you down, you can increase weight per arm using angle arm vs two-arm. E.g. with a two arm as the weight goes up you start pulling yourself off the ground quicker vs pulling the weight down.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Because it allows them to stay in the gym longer and waste time.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Stability. You allow the each side to effectively pull more.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh can curl into it more for lat activation imo

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Single arm is use to have more control over each side independently and two arm is better for overall loading

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh You can wrap around behind to the lat more. AthleanX talks about variations like this

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh @crypto_with_seb ? I’m in the single arm team. One at a time. When I use both it’s only to lift heavier

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh I have to work my left arm more, in order to balance with my right. For whatever reason, my right responds faster than my left. So yea, individual attention.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh It's the same answer as for why runners prefer single leg excercis versions

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Sometimes one side is stronger than the other side. Doing dual, messes up the full potential of the stronger arm.

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh easier to execute. on a lat pulldown, people roll shoulders forward to leverage their chest and abs to complete the movement. easier to rip it hard af on sagittal plane pulls

@liftbyIron @KingiJosh Unilateral training. Bilateral has one disadvantage that your stronger side might take the load and weaker side might develop a little less.
