🇩🇪 Germany now has a brilliantly low-tech way to kill drones While everyone else is building million-dollar laser systems… Germany said “hold my beer” and went surprisingly simple. This surprisingly effective, no-nonsense approach is turning heads in the drone warfare game. Sometimes the best solutions really are the simplest...

LOL. That ain't a solution. Imagine that vehicle is protected by 3 DSP10 drones. Then we just hear: "Igor, send 4 drones at same time".

Autonomous drone hunter-killers are low tech now?

Foolish to believe an FPV drone would sitting there for that slow shit to hit it. FPV doesn't stay still.

Ukraine is already doing this and selling them to the middle east. Drone drone interceptors are old news

How much are they? The Walmart and Amazon drones in my neighborhood are becoming a menace.

An interceptor needs a ~3x speed advantage over the target... neat idea, but it won't be fast enough once it's factored into the attackers' threat model

That's great but what if they send like 15 cheap drones your direction. Is the interceptor the same cost or cheaper?

China using drones to rescue people from deadly floods that have killed at least 17 people. Why kill them ??

1. Not low-tech. 2. This is an LE Drones system. LE Drones is an american, not german, company. You don’t specifically say it’s german tech, but frame it as so. 3. The same tech is produced and deployed by several other companies and countries already, fx Ondas with Iron Drone

So if 300 of those come at the same time?

not working idiot! the drone is not hanging in the air waiting to get hit by another drone u have to fight from far away, not when the drone is close to u, than its too late

Hopefully someday we will quit killing each other and basically have sky video games. May the best country win

So what happens if you have a swarm of drones coming in from different directions at the same time ?

I think "simple" would be the spring mattresses and tree branches the Russians are putting on top of their tanks.

Don’t get too excited about German ingenuity. Germany also just bought a drone defense laser system that will cost in access of EUR500M and is supposed to be ready in 2029. The Netherlands bought a similar system which is already in production from Australia for 1/10th of the price . The icing on the cake is that the German system was specifically designed for a new frigate, which has been cancelled only two weeks before the new laser was ordered. My prediction is that the budget will exceed 1B and that the money will be spent even though the German army will never actually get the laser system. I further predict that there won’t be anybody sending drones in the next 20+ years for the German to shoot at.

Russians have been doing this for 3 years now. Keep drumming up western nonsense.

Pretty sure the interceptor drone costs way more than the Kamikaze drone. This doesn't solve the cost inefficiency dilemma of mid-air interception.

Oh, the new contactless lifestyle-killing drones are now getting new contactless lifestyle-killing adversaries. Yes, that’s the sort of thing our killer-investor boys are absolutely burning to get involved in. Weapons and the systems to counter them—it’s simply a business for people with absolutely nothing going on upstairs!

Next the anti anti drone. A drone that escorts the kamikaze drone and destroys any drone that attacks the kamikaze drone.

There are dozens of companies developing drone interceptor drones. Germany isn't the only one looking at the problem. Drone defense is a complex and layered challenge.
