Ghost in the Shell (1995)

Think this is my favourite from that era. So influential. The right amount of psychoanalytical/philosophical concepts and action. Incredible

I remember going to see it at an artsy theater in Houston when it dropped, can't remember the name of it, though. I used to love the PS1 game and had some art books.

I like the detail of Batou's weapon jamming on the last shot. You can see a mangled brass case in the breach. Thank goodness he didn't need another shot.

The best

There is something sexual and repulsive to this scene. For someone that we love and adore to almost feel the kiss of death, to be saved by someone who loves them, at the very last moment is why this scene is so damn important. A subtle deus ex if you may say.
