Gifts for children on Eid!! Continue giving: While there are no celebrations or gatherings this Eid holiday we wanted to continue our mission that we have been on to bring some joy to the children of Gaza that have been enduring the unimaginable. Haircuts, outfits, and now shoes! We... distributed 100 pairs of sneakers at Al-Mina Port Camp, west of Gaza City. This area is again one of the most in need in the North as it’s sheltering thousands who have recently evacuated with only the belongings that they could carry. This was part of a larger purchase of shoes that we made to help hundreds of children. We paid 45 shekels for each pair, plus 3% bank commission, bringing the total for 500 pairs to 22,175 shekels or $6,637. We will show you our other shoe distributions soon! Shoes distributions are an important part of the Sameer Project initiatives, donate: Small steps (Small Steps Project) funded shoe distributions in the past and we recently collaborated on a new distribution. We got 60 pairs trainers for $21 a pair with 10% commission so the total was $1,260. Earlier this week we distributed 51 pairs of shoes in Asqalan camp in Khan Younis, support: Today our team can’t reach this camp because a new displacement map was issued preventing people from the Central area to go to Khan Younis. This is disastrous as 400 to 500 thousand people are in Khan Younis with no access to aid, including Nasser hospital. They are now locked in and can’t leave. With the high temperatures, many children are barefoot and getting diseases so these distributions help prevent that. The children in Gaza Camp in Deir Al Balah were barefoot, some wearing summer clothes, and all were cold. This camp gets minimal support and none of the families had anything to keep them warm for winter. Our The Sameer Project team got to work after taking the sizes of all the children at the camp, organizating a distribution of warm winter jackets, ensuring there was one for each child in need. We provided 103 jackets, each one heavy, water proof and lined, to keep them warm during the winter storms. Each one was approximately $23 and cost a total 2,290 after 9% commission. The children in Gaza Camp in Deir Al Balah were barefoot, some wearing summer clothes, and all were cold. This camp gets minimal support and none of the families had anything to keep them warm for winter. Our The Sameer Project team got to work after taking the sizes of all the children at the camp, organizating a distribution of warm winter jackets, ensuring there was one for each child in need. We provided 103 jackets, each one heavy, water proof and lined, to keep them warm during the winter storms. Each one was approximately $23 and cost a total 2,290 after 9% commission. We continue our food initiatives in the North of Gaza where more than three quarters of Gaza’s population resides. With bakeries closed and aid distribution sites continuing to lure people to their deaths, communities rely on “takiyyas” to line up and receive a meal in a pot they bring with them. We supplied 4 pots of eggplant and a tomato broth at al-Fakhoura Camp, Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City. Each pot contains around 43 servings and each serving is enough for about 3 people, providing 1000 calories for each meal serving. We have been providing pots to various takiyyas around Gaza City daily. These pots were 1600 shekels each or nearly $460 each before labor and 3% commission for bank transfer fees. Again, we are running low on funds to continue at this pace, but the situation on the ground remains the same which will lead to many more hungry families without some of our assistance. 200 vegetable packages were distributed in the Yarmouk Camp in Khan Younis, donate: Each package had 1.5 kilos of eggplants and 1 kilo of molokhye and cost $43 per bag with 10% commission. Total was $8,600. Vegetables are grown in Gaza and sourced from farmers in bulk. Unfortunately prices are extremely high and the people in Gaza can’t afford them. We continue to purchase large amounts of vegetables and distribute to camps in the Central area and the South. To do so we need your continuous support.
