paper trading can be misleading if you don’t account for slippage and fees

dry-run fills at last price with no spread or queue position, so paper overstates by 2-5% a year. model fill as a function of book depth or live teaches it in week one.

For the Freqtrade step, also run lookahead-analysis. Its docs give an easy-to-miss example: taking .mean() over the full dataframe lets a past signal use future candles. The check only covers signals that actually trigger, so make sure the test exercises each entry and exit.
