Global average sea surface #temperatures are at a record high. It shows that #ClimateChange isn't just affecting our lives on land, it's impacting our #oceans too.

This is complete nonsense. The ocean is heated by the sun only, not by CO2.

This is a non-starter. Most of the world is ocean, and what is happening at the surface does not reflect what is going on even a few cms below. There are few sensors recording this and little research to show impacts/changes at any depth over time.

Atmosphere or CO2 do not warm the oceans... The heat flux is ALWAYS from the ocean to the atmosphere. The increase in absorbed solar radiation (SW) due to the reduction in cloud cover since 1979 is the driving force behind the warming of the oceans.

Great to see you do the rounds Ella. Jim Hansen, writes in a recent article that there is a lot of heat in the pipeline. South America is concerning. Are we underestimating the impacts, even at temps of less than 2C? You are a great communicator. Well done.

@BrianMcHugh2011 CO2 has never heated anything. If it did, we could harness it to heat our homes in winter.

Then they'll drop. How does CO2 make that happen? If I walk into my shower and the air is steamy do I blame the steam for making the water hot? or do I find another cause? you are blaming CO2 when it is a consequence not a cause.
