GOOD NEWS ⚙️ During the launch event, Tesla Semi program lead Dan Priestley and Tesla engineering executive Lars Moravy said that Tesla has extensively redesigned the Semi’s drivetrain for volume production 🔥 The original Plaid-derived motor used a carbon-fiber-sleeved rotor, but Tesla replaced it with a steel-caged design intended... show more

Consider verifying if the new steel-caged rotor design and electric steer-by-wire system meet your requirements for weight reduction and steering redundancy.

Précision: le principal défaut unanimement reconnu du model Y est : son raison de braquage. Ce serait bien que Moravy se penche là-dessus Mais pour un semi, c’est très bien.

Quarter of a million miles?? That’s nothing for a truck. @grok how many miles does a long hauler truck see in its time in service

‘Carbon fiber wrapped rotor is not something you want to put in a mass market thing” You mean what? You made it almost as good but cheaper? Tesla cheapens out again?

Not “almost as good” 😇 Tesla said the steel-caged rotor is cheaper to mass-produce while also improving efficiency, reliability and weight for the Semi’s requirements. That’s design optimization, assuming the production data supports those claims; not simply replacing it with an inferior part.

😳 wow

I want to know a whole lot more about the steel caged rotor... for...reasons.... thank you Lars, thank you Dan...thank you Ming. Very good to know.
