Serving Bengaluru Beyond Duty location - Hebbal Flyover starting ramp towards city market airport Road Today, at around 3:00 PM, heavy rainfall lashed Bengaluru, leading to severe waterlogging and traffic congestion at several locations across the city. While I was at home, I immediately checked Google Maps to identify the worst-affected areas with heavy traffic and waterlogging. Without waiting for any instruction, I stepped out to assist wherever help was needed. As a responsible citizen, I firmly believe that traffic management during emergencies is not the responsibility of the Traffic Police alone. During heavy rain and waterlogging, no single department can handle the situation by itself. It is our collective responsibility as citizens to stand together, support one another, and extend a helping hand in the interest of public safety. Hebbal Flyover Accident at 1 AM: One Dead, Two Injured in a Multi-Vehicle Collision A fatal accident took place around 1 AM last night on the Hebbal flyover, involving three vehicles and resulting in one death and two injuries. A truck loaded with stones reportedly lost control and overturned, crashing on top of a BBMP garbage truck passing below. The driver of the garbage truck tragically died on the spot due to the impact. Shortly after, a car that was traveling behind collided with the wreckage, adding to the severity of the accident. Two people sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Their current condition is reported to be stable. Eyewitnesses believe the stone-laden truck was over-speeding and may have lost control due to sudden braking or poor road surface. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause. This tragic incident raises serious concerns about the lack of safety measures on Bengaluru's flyovers, especially at night when heavy vehicles are more common. Today, at the flag-off of the new direct Mumbai-Bengaluru train, I requested Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw ji for a High-Speed Rail / Bullet Train corridor between Mumbai and Bengaluru via Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad and Davangere. Rapid connectivity to North Karnataka will be a game-changer for jobs, industry, investment and opportunity. We will pursue this at every level with full commitment. North Karnataka deserves its rightful share in Karnataka’s growth story.
