Good Will Hunting has been front-of-mind ever since seeing Matt Damon absolutely crush it in The Odyssey. I think Hunting, The Odyssey & The Talented Mr. Ripley are the three best performances of Damon’s career. Damon’s intelligence as an actor has served him in multiple areas over the course...

Matt Damon just gave the best performance of his life in The Odyssey. Better than Good Will Hunting. Better than The Martian. Better than any of the countless, iconic performances Damon has given over the years. The Odyssey cements Damon as a Hollywood icon if he wasn’t one already. What a performance.

Matt Damon has said repeatedly over the course of promoting The Odyssey that making Christopher Nolan’s latest film was the most physically demanding role Damon’s ever handled. I find that surprising considering Damon was literally Jason Bourne. The Bourne franchise has never and may never receive the attention it deserves. Damon’s physicality in this role is off the charts.

Matt Damon didn’t even receive an Oscar nomination for The Departed, which is relevant as his stars in The Odyssey next week, a film that might earn Damon his first acting Oscar. Damon’s quietly been snubbed by the Academy a handful of times over the course of his career & this might be the most egregious. He holds this entire film together along with Leo.

The Bourne Ultimatum is one of the best action films ever made. There, I said it. I like to think that all the things Matt Damon learned in playing Jason Bourne helped him on the set of The Odyssey. Seeing Damon’s physicality as Odysseus definitely reminded me of some of the things he pulled off as Bourne. It’s also another excuse to fire up the original Bourne trilogy.

The fact that Odyssey has scenes this beautiful and performances this incredible all in the same film, Of course it’s taking home an Oscar. It’s Nolan at his absolute best.

Matt Damon is back in theaters in a matter of days- this time leading a Christopher Nolan film- and it’s grounds for revisiting Damon’s entire career. The Rainmaker is one of a handful of elite ‘90s films Damon gave us & it’s an awesome collaboration between Damon & Francis Ford Coppola. I love legal thrillers & this is as good as they come.

The Last Duel is Matt Damon’s best film of the decade that was not directed by Christopher Nolan. It would be hard for any film to top Oppenheimer or The Odyssey, but Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel has aged stupendously. This deserves a re-release in theaters at some point. Damon is electric in this movie.

Matt Damon’s performance in The Martian is the closest he’s ever been to winning an Oscar for acting…that was until The Odyssey. I love The Martian but Damon’s performance in Nolan’s latest clears anything he’s ever done & should put him in the driver’s seat for best actor. Also worth noting? My guy Ridley Scott is back in theaters in just a few weeks.

From Good Will Hunting to The Martian to The Odyssey, Matt Damon has given us some truly unforgettable performances. He’s been brilliant for decades, and after everything he’s given to cinema, he is worthy of that Oscar.

Matt Damon’s college acting class was the place to be. Damon and his “The Odyssey” co-star, Anne Hathaway, react to Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson telling Adriana Diaz about working on a scene with Damon — who said he and Ben Affleck workshopped “Good Will Hunting” in that same classroom.

Matt Damon’s filmography is absurdly deep. Take for example True Grit, an outstanding Coen Brothers film that probably doesn’t even crack Damon’s 5 best films ever. Damon’s excellent here as is the entire cast, which is loaded. Imagine if The Odyssey is anywhere near the quality of True Grit. If so, we all win.

Matt Damon isn’t just starring in The Odyssey this summer, he’s starring alongside Ben Affleck in a crime thriller called The Rip- dropping in a matter of days. Damon’s 55, which means he’s in his acting prime. He might just make 2026 his own. I’m excited as hell for both films.

School Ties changed the trajectory of Matt Damon’s career, not to mention a handful of other young actors from that generation. Damon, who famously did not get a part in Dead Poets Society, nabbed a part as the racist asshole in School Ties & never really looked back. Damon is an excellent villain. Which is why seeing him as Odysseus felt refreshing.

Elysium is one of the more interesting films Matt Damon’s ever taken on & it’s actually a project I really enjoy, despite the naysayers. I think this film explores themes of environmentalism with a lot of thought, which had to have motivated Damon to do this. It’s worth watching.
