There two types of encryption behind bitcoin: ECDSA 256 - Vulnerable breaking it would require over 1,000,000 qubits. Willow’s 105 . . . SHA-256 - complex and requires (Grover’s algorithm) and millions of physical qubits to pose some sort of avenue Although National security, company Confidentiality, banking sector, medical field would be a hit

It’s generally easier to scale cryptography than computing power. For example, you can simply increase the key size or switch to more advanced cryptographic techniques, like lattice based cryptography (or even new hash algos). Cryptography in my opinion will always stay ahead of computing power.

Google’s Willow chip is a quantum breakthrough, but Bitcoin’s security is still solid. Here’s why: •Cracking Bitcoin’s ECDSA requires millions of stable, error-corrected qubits. Willow is still far from this scale, limited by noisy qubits. •Quantum computers today are designed for niche tasks, not the complex cryptographic algorithms like Shor’s, which are needed to break Bitcoin. •Bitcoin’s cryptography uses SHA-256 hashing, which remains unbroken even by quantum advancements, adding another layer of protection. •Developers are actively preparing quantum-resistant upgrades to ensure Bitcoin’s long-term security. •Experts estimate we’re at least 20+ years away from quantum computers powerful enough to pose a real threat. In the next 5-10 years, Bitcoin remains safe from quantum risks.
