Parliament has passed the Energy Sector Levies Amendment Bill, 2026, increasing the fuel oil levy from GH¢0.24 to GH¢1.93 per litre and extending the Road Fund Levy to fuel oil. #Ethiopia is the first country in the world to ban imports of non-Electric Vehicles (EV), since January 2024. It’s now building an advanced EV charging infrastructure. The country has one of the world’s cheapest electricity costs per kWh. Almost 100% of Ethiopia’s energy is clean, green and renewable all sourced locally from hydro, solar, wind, etc. Yesterday I visited a sleek new ultra fast charging station (video) capable of fully charging EVs within 15 minutes. It was installed by Ethiotelecom (the country’s largest telco), on the side of a newly rebuilt very modern ten-lane highway, in the capital city Addis Abeba. The entire charging process is efficient and hi-tech with payment via a mobile phone app. A large number of new EVs can now be seen on Addis’s streets. The vast majority are Chinese such as BYD. There are also European and Japanese brands such as VW and Toyota but made in China. Have seen several Teslas including a Cybertruk. An emerging market African economy showing the world the innovative future of EV transportation. Very impressive! As the saying goes: Necessity is the mother of invention and innovation. In the case of Ethiopia, the innovative EV strategy was necessitated partly due to the fact that the country is a net oil importer to the tune of up to $6.0 billion annually and, in some years until recently, exceeding the country’s entire annual merchandise export FX earnings.

NEWS: Porsche has announced that its 2026 Cayenne EV will be able to wirelessly charge in your home. It can charge at speeds up to 11kW. The World Premiere of the Cayenne EV will happen later this year. It will be the first model that can be ordered with optional Porsche Wireless Charging receiver unit located in the underbody of the vehicle between the front wheels. Porsche will be the first car manufacturer to bring an 11 kW charging system with a ‟one-box” base plate for battery-electric vehicles to markets. One-Box means that all components, aside from the supply cable, are contained within the floor plate - there is no need to install a wall box or control unit. To initiate the charging process, the Cayenne only has to be parked above the floor plate. The contactless transfer of energy between the two charging units takes place over a distance of roughly four to six inches. To make this possible, the Cayenne reduces the ride height automatically. The base plate has a motion detector and foreign object detection. The charging process is automatically interrupted if interference is detected. A special view in the Surround View parking function makes it easier to maneuver the Cayenne to the optimal charging position. As soon as the parking position above the floor plate is reached and the parking brake is activated, the charging process begins. Customers don't need to do anything else. Porsche Wireless Charging will initially launch in Europe in 2026. Other markets around the world will follow.

I think this decision by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta ji is really commendable. I've criticised the Delhi government on many issues before, but this one deserves full credit. As of today (July 1, 2026), Delhi's new EV Policy is official and in effect. Buyers will now get: - ₹30,000 subsidy on electric two-wheelers - ₹50,000 on electric three-wheelers - ₹1 lakh on N1 category light commercial vehicles All electric cars priced under ₹30 lakh are fully exempt from road tax and registration fees. They're also giving scrappage incentives for those who replace old vehicles with new EVs. Hope other states also start giving good subsidies so we can actually shift to cleaner options. Also hoping the government builds EV charging infra quickly, otherwise this effort won't go far. 👍 #FI

1/2 President Zardari reviews progress on Sindh-China cooperation, calls for timely implementation President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a meeting to review progress of various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and other cooperation initiatives between the Government of Sindh and Chinese companies, directing that the agreed projects be advanced expeditiously and any remaining procedural and technical requirements completed at the earliest. The President said this during a meeting with Chinese delegations of Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Luoyang Modern Biology Group at CM House here today. Facilitated by the China-Pakistan-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Association, the meeting reviewed the implementation status of previously agreed areas of cooperation and discussed steps to advance their execution. The President was briefed on the progress made on cooperation in areas including electric vehicle charging infrastructure, veterinary biological vaccines, animal identification and traceability, agricultural technology, healthcare, fire safety equipment and other sectors. The briefing also covered the steps taken by the Government of Sindh to coordinate with Chinese companies and facilitate the implementation of these initiatives. The President said the government is fully facilitating Chinese businesses and investors. He said Pakistan highly values its All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China and remains committed to further strengthening economic cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with CPEC 2.0 now underway. The President said his regular visits to China reflect Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and promoting mutually beneficial economic cooperation. 24 Hours After Delivery!!! A Hyderabad man bought an EV car spending a whooping Rs 25 lakh on 2nd June 2026. He happily drives his Vinfast VF MPV7 home and on 3rd June morning they come back to the showroom for charging the vehicle. But the vehicle apparently broke down right in front of the showroom. The customer says the Vinfast dealer Naresh Automobiles at Raidurgam, Hyderabad has been very unresponsive and are refusing to even exchange the car. According to him, he drove a total of 5kms and it is now lying at the showroom. The customer filed a complaint at the consumer court and awaiting response. Also, there are a few cases of technical issues around Vinfast in US & Vietnam (the country of manufacture), not sure of the vehicle performance in Indian markets as yet.

24 Hours After Delivery!!! A Hyderabad man bought an EV car spending a whooping Rs 25 lakh on 2nd June 2026. He happily drives his Vinfast VF MPV7 home and on 3rd June morning they come back to the showroom for charging the vehicle. But the vehicle apparently broke down right in front of the showroom. The customer says the Vinfast dealer Naresh Automobiles at Raidurgam, Hyderabad has been very unresponsive and are refusing to even exchange the car. According to him, he drove a total of 5kms and it is now lying at the showroom. The customer filed a complaint at the consumer court and awaiting response. #WATCH | Delhi CM Rekha Gupta says, "This is truly a historic day. Delhi EV Policy, which we aim to implement starting July 1, 2026. Following the LG's approval, the policy will remain in effect until March 31, 2030. It focuses entirely on electric vehicles—specifically zero-emission vehicles—with the ultimate goal of gradually transforming Delhi into a pollution-free city for the benefit of its residents. We have devised a comprehensive plan to execute this in phases over the next four years. I would like to highlight that the policy entails an expenditure of ₹7,000 crore over these four years alone. Additionally, we are investing ₹8,000 crore in creating EV infrastructure and waiving road taxes year-on-year; in total, we estimate that the people of Delhi will receive benefits worth approximately ₹15,000 crore through this policy. The measures include purchase incentives, scrapping incentives, the creation of charging infrastructure, and exemptions on road tax and registration fees. This scheme will be highly beneficial for the general public, as we have endeavoured to bridge the price gap between electric vehicles and conventional vehicles through these subsidies. I believe Delhi is the only state in the country launching such a massive EV policy framework; it not only involves an outlay of ₹15,000 crore but also adopts an uncapped, phased approach regarding vehicle numbers—meaning we will incentivise and support the adoption of as many vehicles as the public chooses to purchase. We have not imposed any kind of cap over these four years. We have included two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, N1 trucks, and 'Gramin Seva' vehicles in this policy...Following the Cabinet's approval, it will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor today. Once implemented from July 1st, every resident of Delhi will be able to avail the benefits of this policy."
