To support the adoption of electric vehicles, our 2024 Manifesto highlights plans to develop a widespread network of EV charging stations across urban and rural areas. This infrastructure will ensure that EV users have convenient access to charging facilities, reducing range anxiety and encouraging the use of electric vehicles. Furthermore, the BDP is committed to fostering a knowledge-based economy by investing in specialized training programs for students and professionals in the eMobility sector. These programs will equip Batswana with the necessary skills to participate in the growing global market for electric vehicles. Following the LG's approval, the policy will remain in effect until March 31, 2030. 1,085 Olectra E-Buses to Drive Hyderabad’s Green Mobility Vision Hyderabad is set to witness a major expansion in clean public transport with Olectra Greentech Limited securing a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC ) through Evey Trans Pvt. Ltd. for the supply of 1,085 electric buses. Telangana Honourable Chief Minister Sri A Revanth Reddy has consistently articulated a clear vision to position Hyderabad as a national leader in green mobility. He has emphasized rapid electrification of public transport, reduction of urban carbon emissions, and expansion of clean energy infrastructure as core priorities. The induction of 1,085 electric buses aligns with the state government’s strategy to modernize public transport, reduce fossil fuel dependency, and move towards a low-carbon urban ecosystem. The order has been awarded under the PM E-DRIVE initiative spearheaded by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), aimed at accelerating electric public transport adoption across Indian cities. The buses will be deployed in Hyderabad, strengthening the city’s sustainable and zero-emission transport network. Headquartered in Hyderabad, Olectra Greentech has established itself as India’s leading electric commercial vehicle brand, consistently holding the No. 1 market share in electric buses. With over 3,600 electric vehicles deployed nationwide and an order book exceeding 10,000 vehicles, the company has clocked more than 500 million green kilometres. They promised that many of the steps in Uganda’s energy transition would involve promoting and implementing #emobility. Today, the Ministry together with partners launched GoU’s first EV charging station, which marks one of the many steps the government is taking to advance the e-mobility agenda and, in turn, Uganda’s energy transition plan. Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu said that GoU is prepared to be a participant, not just an observer, in the energy transition. Moving forward, many more charging stations will be installed across the country, supporting the over 3,000 EV vehicles currently in Uganda, and many more in the future.

#Ethiopia is the first country in the world to ban imports of non-Electric Vehicles (EV), since January 2024. It’s now building an advanced EV charging infrastructure. The country has one of the world’s cheapest electricity costs per kWh. Almost 100% of Ethiopia’s energy is clean, green and renewable all sourced locally from hydro, solar, wind, etc. Yesterday I visited a sleek new ultra fast charging station (video) capable of fully charging EVs within 15 minutes. It was installed by Ethiotelecom (the country’s largest telco), on the side of a newly rebuilt very modern ten-lane highway, in the capital city Addis Abeba. The entire charging process is efficient and hi-tech with payment via a mobile phone app. A large number of new EVs can now be seen on Addis’s streets. The vast majority are Chinese such as BYD. There are also European and Japanese brands such as VW and Toyota but made in China. Have seen several Teslas including a Cybertruk. An emerging market African economy showing the world the innovative future of EV transportation. Very impressive! As the saying goes: Necessity is the mother of invention and innovation. In the case of Ethiopia, the innovative EV strategy was necessitated partly due to the fact that the country is a net oil importer to the tune of up to $6.0 billion annually and, in some years until recently, exceeding the country’s entire annual merchandise export FX earnings.

Highlights of the agreement are as follows: •Fleet Expansion: Leveraging the successful integration of the Airbus A220 (as seen with Ibom Air), to establish Nigeria as a leader in regional and continental flight operations. •Infrastructure & Technical Support: Airbus will provide comprehensive consulting for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, flight operations, and aviation market insights. •Human Capital Development: Creating high-value jobs for the next generation of Nigerian talents through specialized training programs for pilots, engineers, and cabin crew. •Market Leadership: Aligning with Airbus’ Global Market Forecast, which predicts a demand for 1,490 new aircraft in Africa over the next two decades. Nigeria aims to capture a dominant share of this growth by utilizing its geographic advantage as a global bridge. The visit concluded with a commitment to further technical exchanges, including upcoming inspections of Airbus’ Defence & Space and Helicopter divisions. The presence of these infrastructure sites and the engineering vehicles in the area, as well as Hezbollah's use of them for rebuilding terror infrastructure sites in Lebanon, constitute a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon. That’s 20% of all new car sales. The electric vehicle space has grown much faster than many have imagined, and thanks to new laws and technology in the US and abroad, these numbers will likely continue to increase. With the improvement in batteries, and the addition of charging stations being built all over the globe, it’s only a matter of time before Electric Vehicles overtake traditional gas-burning cars and trucks. How long do you think it will take?

Electric grid providers and operators can finally offer their end customer modernized experiences, in addition to offering gamified demand response programs.
